How to use categories

We've just added Steam Locos and Diesel locos to the post categories, which allows you to create a "virtual forum" for posts on those specific topics if you like.

Take this post, which has a photo of Craig Bisgeier's 1890s layout:

Sierra Railroad #3

Thank you, Joe, for creating the steam loco topic. This will make it easier, once people figure out it's here and how to use/access it, to have a place to discuss steam locomotives.

Though I'm sure this will primarily be about model steam locos, I figured it wouldn't hurt to start with a photo of a real one.

My New Layout Design

Hi all

Due to a major flood here (Bundaberg, QLD) I moved to another house and I have had to redesign my layout.

Not a lot has change accept the width of the room is slightly narrower.

Following are two designs I have drawn up using SCARM.

I would like your opinion/choice if you had to choose one of these designs to build.

Cheers all

Unusual Request: Cost of things in the 1950s?

I have an unusual request. On my layout there is going to be a business named "Seat Cover Charlies" who sells seat covers in one of these do it all 50's type stores. There used to be one near when I grew up, hence the name. What I need is, What did a set of seat covers for a car cost in the mid 50's?  I was 6 at the time , I have no clue. My best guess would be around $20.

Any body remember or have any clues? I'm modeling the left coast if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

The BNML - Introduction

The BNSF Manitoba Limited (BNML) is a BNSF Line from Emerson Manitoba to Winnipeg. As far as I know, it is the only BNSF owned line located fully within Canada.
