Modifying Fast Tracks Bullfrog Manual Turnout Control for Smaller Scales

I have found that the Switch Wire supplied in the package is way too stiff and strong for small scale turnouts, and applies too much force to the rails and ties, often leading to broken solder joints on hand laid turnouts.

SO, I experimented a little and came up with a very simple solution to the problem.  See the attached PDF file for the details.

British Railways reality

This layout is not for the easily offended! Highly irreverent, politically incorrect, but a layout that none-the-less reflects the reality of some back street railways in the UK - with some added licence.  There is great animation (how did he crush the VW combi van?), a lovely and dainty layout cat, plus other wildlife.  Harry Potter, Ghostbusters ...... I'll not spoil it any more.  Just watch.

Some seriously good modelling, weathering and annimations

Jumper wire

What gauge of wire would be good for a jump wire for a HO scale turnout?

Also what type of wire is good for feeder that would be soldered to a rail?

Train Inventory Software

Can anyone tell me where I can find MRHs Train Inventory Software.

Less Fiction... Big Changes to the BNML trackplan

Having spent a day studying what goes on at the border crossing of Emerson MB & Noyes MN, I had decided I needed to include Noyes on the layout... since that is where the majority of the interchange activity takes place on the BNML, with the Canadian Crew working the US Interchange yard and the US crew never setting foot into Canada. ( you can read about that here )

Car Cards in Yards

I am planning workspaces for my crews now and I'm wondering how other people do this...

How many card boxes for each yard track do you use?      1?   2?   3?    (incoming, outgoing, hold?)

I'm thinking of including a 4" shelf inset into the facia at my yards for working space. Is this too small? Larger than needed?

How big a working space do you give your operators?
How do you organize the car cards in your yards?

Picture please!

Cab Ride Video experiments on the Columbia & Western

Hi everyone...

Inspired by the recent excellent videos I saw of a N scale Sand Patch layout, I went and got myself a Looxcie "wearable" video camera.  After two weeks of messing with bad memory cards, faulty desktop software settings and, last but definitely not least, my inexperience with my wife's iPad I got the system up and running yesterday.  Many, many thx to excellent the Looxcie support team.
