Installing a Walthers 90 foot DCC turntable
I am in the process of installing a Walthers 90 foot turntable. I have the hole cut as per the template and it is very snug. It will be mounted through 1/2 in. plywood with 1/2 in. homasote on top of that. To those who have been in my shoes--do I want it to have some breathing room or leave it snug. My fear with being too snug is warping the plastic turntable pit. Any help would be great.

Buckling Track problems
Here's a new one for me.
I am building the layout in a finished / heated / AC basement. Track is Code 83, Shinahora that is lightly glued with Phenoseal and track spikes added. Rail joiners are NOT soldered. Switches are not glued.
Average temp in the basement runs about 60 to 70 degrees, with winter temps running about 64 degrees constant in the basement. Humidity runs about 65% average, although I noticed on the cold days here in the Northeast it went down to about 45-50%.
Track Spikes
I am looking at these spikes http://www.micromark.com/small-spikes-pkg-of-1000,8607.html from Micromark and was wondering if anyone has used them. They look an awful like Micro Engineering spikes. I have been using the Walthers spikes https://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/948-360 I am having a hard time finding the walthers spikes here in Canada. I found some at Trainworld but was not going to pay $50 us dollars for shipping of 10 packs of spikes so im on hold hand laying my track till i get some more spikes. Good thing theres always something to do on model railroad.
Fixing a gauge problem with a Shinohara 3 way switch
I am using code 100 track in my lower staging yard, mostly because it is less expensive than the code 70 I use elsewhere, and I had a lot of track on hand to use.
I re-laid my yard throat with Shinohara switches after trying some tight radius Peco switches that didn't work well with my long freight and passenger cars. I sacrificed some staging capacity in order to get better operation, or at least that was the plan.
Kadee Spiker
Hi Folks
Would there be anyone out there who may just happen to have a working Kadee Spiker and spikes that they have no further use for.
I had one of these for many years and after a few mods to it, it worked perfectly with only about one hic-cup in every 100 to 150 cycles.

Tortise Help Please
I am having a problem installing a Tortise switch on my main line. The first two went in with little or no trouble; the third one is a royal pain. . . The problem is the adjustment so the switch throws in both directions. Here are the details:
1. The hole is more than big enough for the throw rod travel.
2. The original wire has been replaced with a stiffer piano wire with the correct bend.
3. The switch functions well when not inserted into position (ie. in my hand tested with power).

Alternative to Caboose Industries turnout ground throw
Last year I saw discussion of another type of turnout ground throw I would like to try. IIRC, it was metal vs. the plastic type that Caboose Industries has.
Can anyone post the name/company so I can look those up? I'm going to need some for my yard which will mostly make use of manual ground throws.

Anyone know a second source for end tie plates for Free mo?
Been trying to contact BNM Hobbies for a week and a half and the phone just rings. They haven't answered e-mail either.

February - Electrical Fun
Super Bowl Weekend - Only had to go to work 3 hours on Saturday so had some time over the weekend and before the game to work on the Railroad. Got all the various parts for the electrical switch controls so was able to build & install 9 of them. Thought someone would get a kick out of the controlled chaos so I took some pictures. This is only a temporary install till I can put on the fascia.
