Spring loaded turnout points

Note quite sure what this type of turnout is called, here is what I want to accomplish.

I have a reverse loop that I want the train to always enter the same way. At present I am using a PSX-AR to control the turnout but that throws the turnout as a train traverses the reverse loop, not what I want.

Am I looking at some sort of spring to apply just enough pressure on the points to hold them in one position yet light enough to allow my lightest rolling stock to pass through without derailment?

Any advise or recommendations?

Thanks,

John

Before and after

Some time ago someone posted a before and after blog.

Easement from straight to curved track

I'm presently planning and starting to build my next layout. I have heard of and read about the Easement transition going from a straight track to a radius track. My question is what is a good basic radius to use for the Easement? For example, if I'm using a 36" radius would I double the radius to 72"? Would I triple it to 108"? And so on. Any information on this subject would be appreciated.
Thank you

Scott

CP's Area H Spur Update #2

It's been four months since my last update and in that time I've made decent progress on the Area H Spur. Most important was constructing the spur lead/staging track. As you'll notice in the photos, my aim was to use lightweight materials for the layout base. Simple steel brackets screwed into the walls and a coroplast (1/4" corrugated plastic sheet) serving as the base material.

Electrical Frustration

OK, I 'll bite; after being so careful and testing track conductivity as I went along, I now have a gremlin that has popped up. Track was laid and joints butted; soldered where needed; drops made; insulator joiners used on the inside rail of fturnouts etc.

HO scale garden Railroad

Has anyone attempted to build an HO scale garden layout? If so, please advise as to set backs with wiring, roadbed etc.
