Peco Code 83 Turnouts

Are the switch heads for Peco turnouts fixed or can they be moved for clearance if needed?

LAZY TRAIN _JMRI RPI3 DCC++ Rotating Scenery Layout NEMA 23

ME Turnout Positioning

Starting to work on a first layout (HO) and have question on using ME #6 turnouts.

1) If I place a LH turnout at the end of the diverging route of a RH turnout what would be the track spacing if I continued with straight tracks on the trough  route of the RH turnout and the diverging route of the LH turnout? Trying to layout the template from ME I get it is close to 1 9/16". If this is correct is that spacing too tight for a yard?

Remove Peco switch springs after installing

I've some Peco turnouts on my switching layout. I installed them with the springs for manual operation. Now I want to install servos and would like to remove the springs, but the turnouts are completely fixed, glued down, ballasted. Do you have any ideas how to remove these springs without ruining anything?

Facia mounted turnout throw

Have been working on facia mounted manual turnout controls. Most are to small or too fragile. So found these Bachmann G scale turn out throws and it was of the the races. I cut off part of the mounting lug that connected to the Bachmann switch. Extended the throw linkage. Made a nice 4 by 4 inch shelf to mount it on. I used a Blue Point throw to work the points. Worked great and rugged.

City passenger terminus; dead end tracks under train shed

I've seen layouts where multiple tracks terminate (dead end) at a major station, often under a train shed.  I'd like to model this.  However, in studying at least one such track plan, it appears that a train pulls into the station tracks with no provision for turning around the engines.  Operationally, are such trains supposed to back out of the station to the main line?  Or, are they supposed to back into the station?  What am I missing in terms of operating such a passenger configuration?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

A Staging Leg To Stand On

The first edition of the 22nd Avenue Running Track's single-track staging leg, built a decade ago, is about what you would expect for a first draft by a high school student. It generally did the job, but it was too short, unstable, and crudely finished. As part of the overall benchwork rehabilitation, I figured it prudent to completely replace it with one of higher-quality materials and craftsmanship. So into the scrap pile went the old one.

Looking for ad

Hi,

I remember an ad for a new type of rail connector or module rail connector in the magazine, and I can't find it.

It looks like a short length of track that can be repeatedly connected together. Also at angles.

Not the little metal connectors. This was something new.

Anyone know what it is?

Atlas n scale code 55 turnouts

Hi

I am in the early stages of building a layout and am using Atlas track (which may have been a mistake). As my rolling stock runs over a turnout every axle does a little jump. After much trying to see what is going on I have come to the conclusion that the frog isn't deep enough for the wheel flanges, so they ride up. My rolling stock is new, so not pizza cutters. One wagon, in particular, is derailing as it does the little jump, which is very frustrating.

Has anyone else had this issue?
