Upgrading HOn3 La Belle D&RG Coach

I told the story earlier of how I got this kit free from my LHS. What it needs is some new parts that are closer to today"s quality. The issue is that San Juan Model Co is not up and running yet. (new owners of Grandt Line) And Precision Scale also has new owners and they aren't up and running yet either. So who has HOn3 car parts, passenger and freight?

Let's see the bottom insides of your gondolas; I need idea.

My gondolas is just too clean. I have no idea how to to the bottom.

My take at weathering without an airbrush

Hey everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

In my latest video, I weather an HO Scale boxcar without using an airbrush.  This box car is a NMRA Winnebagoland Division Club car and its very close to some Milwaukee Road box cars that used to travel on the Marshline.

We'll use prototype photos to come up with a plan and add a very heavy dose of weathering to an Accurail Box car!

HOn3 25-Ton Class B Climax - scratch, bash or forgetaboutit?

So as I’m researching possible central Pennsylvania early 1900s prototypes to model, it seems that the narrow gauge railroads that are of the most interest to me all ran Climaxes in the 25- to 35- ton range. The White Deer & Loganton, Eagles Mere Railroad, Lewisburg & Buffalo Valley, Susquehanna & Eagles Mere and the Laurelton Lumber Company all ran Climax locomotives in the 25-ton range.

So... I gotta have one if at all possible.

This blog will be where I keep research, beg for help, document a build or bash, and beg for help. :)

Santa Fe 1st Arizona Sub under construction November 2018 update

Work is progressing on the layout room, with modules now going 2/3 around the room, and only one wall left to insulate and Gybrock (drywall). Meanwhile work on the name trains continues, in an effort to have each car as close to prototype as possible.

Sources of HO resistor wheelsets?

I'm looking for sources of pre-made HO scale 33" 10K ohm resistor wheelsets — as opposed to wiring my own.

I'm aware of:

Other sources?

How big is my Caboose?

Okay, so... in another discussion, someone had mentioned that the Silver Streak bobber caboose was too big.. out of scale... so I'm curious... is it? Or are the RTR's out of scale.

So I have noticed, since building that Silver Streak Bobber, that it's a bit bigger than my Bachmann bobber. (it's actually a combination of two Silver Streaks... sides, ends, and trucks, and a Ya Ol Huff & Puff... steps, though, from what I can tell, a Ye Ol Huff & Puff is the EXACT SAME MODEL as the Walther's Silver Streak, but slightly different trucks)
