How I scratch build steam in HO

I posted this picture in another thread, and thought it might be worth a comment or two.  I don't want praise (well, everybody likes it) and I'm not trying to show off.  I hope that I can show somebody out there that it is really not that difficult to build a steam loco from scratch.

Here's the photo:

Southern Ms-5 #4998

Inspired in part by RAGC's conversion of a Tyco pacific and the desire to clean up a project backlog (and maybe fund some other projects!), I've started construction on Southern Ry.

A quick one-evening bash

I was bored last night, waiting for glue to dry on a locomotive project, so I started looking for something to cut up.  When the muse is upon me, strange things have been known to happen.  In this case, I came across an old Life-Like 40' box car that a friend had given me.  If you've never seen these cars, they're the best sort of toy train junk - out of proportion, clunky details, holes in the body to mount the frame, and of course really crappy trucks and couplers.

Here's one I found on E-bay:

Locomotive Roster Update

Washington Northern MP15DC #5033 is an example of the last switcher-type locomotive purchased by the WN in 1979, when they ordered 4 of these units numbered 5030-5033. It is assigned to Discovery Yard in Port Andrews and frequently can be seen in the Tideflats District.

For anybody out there,                One of the large mailorder companies out of NY is selling these locos at a supper

Canadian National HO scale H6 class 4-6-0 info wanted

Howdy Everyone,

I am working on an HO scale modeling project that involves rebuilding an old brass Van Hobbies CNR class
H6 4-6-0. I am having DCC/Sound installed and plan on having her detailed as CNR 1533 circa 1958. Dose
anyone out there have any photos of the CNR H6's in service, especially the 1533 / 1325 in commuter service
in the Montreal area?
