Locomotive kits

Daniel Kramer sent this one to QAT using the contact form at
http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/contact. Can anyone help with an answer? He doesn't mention a scale but 'Athearn BB' suggests HO.

My test model from Shapeways has been received

The test model that I ordered from Shapeways arrived yesterday.  Note the white object inside the shell, that is a block of foamcore.  The walls are so thin that the material flexes, the foamcore is a press-fit and keeps the walls from bowing inward.

Newest Boxcars

To All: I deleted my previous post on this car. This is now the correct photo of this car. I got the idea for this scheme from an ad in Model Railroader magazine for an N scale boxcar. To get the herald for my version in HO I reduced a picture from a book by 50% and glued it on the car with super glue. I will not weather the car so as to represent a new car from the manufacturer. Spectrum N&W 4-8-4 problems

My grandson has the Bachmann/Spectrum 82153 Special Class J 4-8-4 Norfolk and Western #611 in N gage that has been very troublesome. On his earlier layout, a simple double oval of Bachmann track from a Bachmann train set, the loco ran fine until after perhaps a couple of hours of use when it suffered a mechanical problem that stopped it dead. The drivers somehow got out of sync in their connections to the other drivers. It went back to Bachmann for repair and was replaced with a new one, as best I can tell.

From On30 to HO

On30 got started as a way to use readily available, inexpensive, reliable HO scale mechanisms to model narrow gauge in a larger scale.  With Bachmann jumping into the market, however, there are now quite a few readily available, inexpensive, reliable On30 mechanisms out there, and I've wondered if it would be practical to convert them back to HO.

N scale critters

I am having a hard time finding a decent Porter Hustler or an equivalent critter in n scale do they exist?  How hard would it be to build one?  I think finding a motor that small would be the hardest part.  Any help and or ideas are appreciated.

Otter Creek Falls Rwy The three foot coal and lumber hauler

Not one to be left behind, the subsidiary of the New York, Vermont & Northern Rwy, the Otter Creek Falls Coal & Lumber Rwy is receiving some equipment from the Lilliputian Rail Equipment Broker. An 0-6-0 switcher, an 0-6-0 Plymouth diesel, Brill Trolley and the tender from the 0-6-0 engine. But, there's always a "but", the caboose right along with the side rods, coupler and some hand railing were confiscated by rail fans when the crew parked the train and went to lunch.

21st Century Steam comes to the NY, V & N Rwy.

The New York, Vermont & Northern Rwy is going into the 21st Century with modern steam. These are the first of five F-45 bodies to arrive from the EMD Company. The NY,V & N Rwy will be adding the drive train and support equipment. The railroad plans on building at least 3 ACE 3000 like locomotives for mainline coal hauling. The program will will last over several years. More news to come as the program progresses.
