Sky Color/Paint

With my new color of LEDs I am re-evaluating the sky color in my layout room,...best be done before I start lying track,...and I wanted to paint a few other items under my other deck (the metal beams, etc).

The number of my LEDs has increases so the decks will be a bit more brightly lit,...so I began to think of a 'brighter blue'. I have a couple picked out.

But I have a major question. What 'sheen' does one choose,....flat, semi-gloss, satin etc??

Woodinville, WA MOW Shack 1/29 Build

Woodinville, Washington once was the hub of activity of the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern, followed by the Northern Pacific, Burlington Northern, BNSF, and finally the home of Eastside Freight Railroad (recently shut down as of August 2020).

End of Summer layout update

Summer is two thirds done, and traditional summer ends in a week. Through this pandemic I have been working regular hours at the gold mine I work at. Vacation was staycation this year so no new adventures to model railroads, new hobby shops or railway museums. Lots of virtual participation and online hobby shop purchases.

Grain Truck Modeling

I'm a 1970's/1980's era grain truck junkie. I'd love to see folks' models or prototype pics, as they are always an inspiration.

Here are my two kitbashed trucks used at a fertilizer transload operation. The first is an Athearn Ford 850, to which I grafted a tandem-axle Kenworth chassis for a heavier duty straight-truck.

Cut-A-Way Structure View

Has anyone tried to model a structure on their layout with a cut-a-way or " truncated " view ? How did it work out if you did and any pointers? I tried a search of the MHR sire but didn't get much of a return.

A new project from the days of steam headed right into the digital Era.

Scratch Building a Coal Mine!

Old coal mine no longer fits into the scene on the new layout. It was hacked up a bit and scratch built something new and AWESOME.  Some issues were fixed and eventually placed on the layout.

This is a Neat scratch-built coal mine scene!

In this episode we are building Berkshire Valley Models new kit, the Small Ore Bin - Truck Ramp. This video is to complement the well organized instructions, and would make a great craftsman kit for a novice.
