Spacing between telegraph poles
Does anyone know the prototypical spacing used between telegraph poles and did it vary at all depending on where in the US or Canada the rail was located or the actual rail line it was on? Would like to plant the poles using a reasonable approximation but couldn't find any actual info on spacing. Thanks
Re-imagined Rico,CO
C19 346 is being turned on the Rico turntable at the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society's very large HOn3 layout during a TT&TO ops session. Rico has been "re-imagined" to suit the needs to the layout. The roundhouse is scratchbuilt by Andy Hunter from Great Northern Standard plans. The turntable is a highly modified Fleischman N scale model by John Stravino and is controlled by a DCC decoder. LA Roe used Bragdon rocks molds for plaster castings and Woodland Scenics foliage.

Tunnel Portal and Lining on the PC&N Ry
I have started to scratch build a short timber tunnel lining with portals. This is really a selective compression of a tunnel and is being used to transition from one scene to the next through the center backdrop. Once completed I can finished the tree covered ridge it goes through.

"Caldwell Boulevard"...bringing a photo diorama to life
"Caldwell Boulevard" is the name I christened upon my latest scenic diorama that will be used for photographing some of my monthly weathered model projects for The Weathering Shop. The name "Caldwell" for this project happened to come from a jazz artists last name. I was trying to imagine names for this diorama when it was nearing completion. I just so happened to be listening to smooth jazz artist Bobby Caldwell when the final stages of production of this diorama were coming about. I thought to myself that "Caldwell Boulevard" sounded legitimate.

Diner from the past: a reference to the old days of toy trains
In this project, we see a firmilliar sight: one of the tinplate cars intended for my friend. This car is beyond an affordable restoration considering its a gift, so after a idea popped into my head I asked if he minded my doing something else with the carbody than restoring it to rolling condition. After getting the OK, I did more thinking. Here's the plan. We're all firmilliar with the idea of old train cars being used as diners right? But they're always older cars than the current era as would make sense.
Cedar shingles in Midwest?
Ok, talk to me about cedar shingles- on the roof.
SP branchline
This is a photo of my SP California branchline. It is a freelance layout designed by my friend, "Mountaingoat" Greg Baker. He designed it in 2001 and I have been working on it twelve years. It has a fifty foot mainline in a 12'x14' room.
and a 3.1% grade. It is "sort of" done for now.
The locos are Genesis GP9's.
