Advice on how to mount gates?
Hi all,
Im trying to figure out a good way of mounting two gates on my n scale layout. The gates are part of a chain link fence leading in to my team track, and i want to animate them, so i can use DCC to open and close the gates.
CY&PRR - Atlas Signal Tower Upgrade
I have been able to snatch a little time here and there this summer to work on this really neat project, upgrading the venerable standard Atlas 704 Signal Tower HO kit using a laserboard upgrade kit from Vector Cut:

I first learned of this item through a post here on MRH:

I ordered it last winter and have now been able to work on it.
Looking for station lights like these
Has anyone seen HO lights that look like these on the station platform?
I checked the Walthers site but couldn't find anything.

SP branchline scenery
Scene on my SP branchline . It is freelance early 1960's rural flavor. The Jeep is a Herpa military.
I can't detail locomotives well. Scenery keeps me out of trouble.

I posted this photo in the weekend photo fun and I ahd a few people ask me how I made them. I was able to grab a few snap shots of the process I went through to make the trees. If you have questions about the process please feel free to ask.
Having Fun with SMD LEDs
One of my favorite aspects of model railroading is lighting - especially when it is done in a way where it isn't obvious that you have a resistor, led, and two wires in the light fixture. More in the next post below, with photos!
Backdrop Junction now an MRH Sponsor
I am happy to announce Backdrop Junction is now an MRH Sponsor. Along with this change, visitors to our website will note a few new features. We will post about those here as they come online.
Backdrop Junction is now the exclusive provider of Dawson Hall Structure kits in the United States, and I believe, North America. We currently have a limited inventory of these fantastic kits.
ATSF Bakersfield Ice Deck
I am building the two ice decks that were at the ATSF Bakersfield yard as they were in 1950 for the LaMesa Model RR Club in Balboa Park in San Diego. In 1950 the Santa Fe had modified the decks to support a powered ice machine that ran on rails embedded in the deck. These machines took whole blocks of ice, ground these up and blew the crushed ice into refer ice bunkers. The photos are of the work in progress north deck. The model is made of resin castings from RTV molds of masters I made for the various parts. The overall model will be 9 ft long.
