Tree Help

Shortly before Christmas, I found a helpful video on YouTube for making N scale evergreen trees.

I'm at the point where I need to start making trees as I haven't found many ready made trees that look good (in N scale that is) so I decided to try the technique in the video.

I attached some pictures in the first response below.

New tree armature?

Hi gang. The other day I spotted an interesting plant. Goldcrest Wilma - Cupressus Macrocarpa.

This plant has a very nice structure that when dried might make a good basis for conifers.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Loads to metal manufacturing plant

A company that manufactures metal goods, e.g., nuts and bolts, washers, screws, etc.  Besides steel coils and cardboard boxes (for shipping), what kind of loads would this kind of company receive by rail?

Last Project of the Year

Well here is the final project for the year. I Kit bashed a Highway Miniatures Erie B-2 Steam Shovel into a Marion Type 450. HBMS had 10 of these versatile units.

I used almost everything from the kit with the exception of the boiler.

Old Bay District | A layout big on craftsman kits and scenery.

Hopefully I am not posting too much... To that one guy on Facebook sorry, I'll only post a few videos.

This year I built two kits I had sitting in my kit cache. Both were high end craftsman kits from different eras. The first, as seen in another topic titled Shipyard at Foss, was built very similar to the kit design. This kit will be planned out from the ground up, literally.

In video one we talk about the design and how it will fit into the broader scene of two dioramas joined as one.

Freight House

I am seldom intimidated by a project. Ever since I took apart my first alarm clock as a child, I have jumped into practically anything with confidence (or chutzpah) and enthusiasm. I've had the occasional setback (I remember blowing a fuse amid smoke and sparks while demonstrating electromagnetism in 5th grade, and at my retirement recital one of my favorite contraptions went seriously cracker dog), but most everything eventually worked reasonably well.

Then I acquired this kit in 2013:

How to Model Peeling Paint

This week is peeling paint, a technique is so easy to do on older buildings.  This one is for buildings made from wood.

Modeling TV antennas, modeling trash ...

To All,  I have recently begun building a series of buildings that need some details. First, I need a source or way to make 50's and 60's era TV antennas. I have hand tremors so an etched metal kit is best as I can get some help with the assembly. Any suggestions  are appreciated.  Also, any tips on making very fine paper trash would be helpful. This is all HO scale.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.  KodachromeJohn
