Paul's Pulpwood
To All: It has been a long day at Paul's Pulpwood siding on the First Coast RR and Paul wants to go home. Time to shut out the lights and close up shop. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.
My scratch built work
Hey guys, a new scratch built project is complete. I made the school using Monster Modelworks materials and Evergreen styrene. After the walls were cut to the proper dimensions (and cut out the window openings of course), I fixed bracing strips to the backside of the walls and primed all the walls with a gray primer. I then painted it using a sponge, left it to get dry. I used pigment (Vallejo Green Earth) for the mortar. Brushed it to the surface and sealed it with a flat spray. The structure is slightly weathered. That's it. Enjoy and cheers!
Log Cabin Siding - HO Scale
I am going to be scratch building an HO structure that requires 10" Log Cabin Siding. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this. Does anyone commercially make Log Cabin Siding? I need a good amount of the stuff...about 220 scale ft., 5 logs in width. I suppose it will be the 3D route if nothing commercially exists.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Track detailing after rail is painted
After reading Bill Brillinger's method for painting track and weathering ties I was motivated to get this done on my layout over Thanksgiving Eve and morning. Thanks Bill!
Today and this weekend I plan on drybrushing the ties following an older technique on this forum. I will start with drybrushing a white paint over the top of the ties and us a series other drybrushed colors of washes. Once the ties are finished, what is the best step for adding static grass. Before ballasting or after?
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

3 rail diesel service facility
I'm looking for a source for sanding towers, fueling stand, etc., that will service 1-2 tracks on a small Lionel layout with modern day diesel locomotives.
Roofing Help
Hey everyone, been a while since my last post.... I imagine everyone is busy also. I wanted to ask the group for some Roofing suggestions on my AR Tower project. Shown are a molded shingle on the garage and the tower has add on paper shingles. What has the better look?
Thanks for the input....
My Son's School Project
My son had a school project on world religions to complete. You could pretty much do anything on any religion, just be creative and make it applicable to some aspect of some religion. He chose Shinto but didn't know what to do for it. I suggested he do a diorama related to something in Shinto, possibly a shrine. However, he didn't have enough time to build a significant structure (with the complex roofs and such of typical Japanese architecture), so he built a simple, natural shrine.
Animate the (scratchbuild) watertower
A short video of the animated watertower on Spiderfield, my scenic'd Timevaver layout. Here you can see how I build the watertower.
