Carolina Division - a new layout
After many years arm chair modeling and planning, I have started to work on a new layout. This will be my first “real” layout. I did built a small 4 x 8 one, years ago when the kids were little. It will be a point to point switching layout of modular construction.
Layout Update: Mid June 2015 - Part 1
The current work area is located in the center of the peninsula on the upper or third level of the layout. All of the track and turnouts for this area have been installed and it is now ready for the fun part, known as electrical installation.

Update on the lighting from last month and a layout tour by rail. The mainline is built and trains will run.
A challenge for the electronic gurus
We have a modular layout at our club that we are about to set up with occupancy detection and signalling. The DCC setup is all Digitrax with BDL 168s for occupancy and SE8s and Tortoise point motors. We have no issue with setting everything up on all the main modules. However, at each end of the layout we have 60" long staging modules.
Setting up my shelf layout again
Hi Guys,
I'm planning new construction on my shelf layout. Right now it is a point to point shelf layout with a peninsula. I'd like to add a loop on an "upper" level. If I can pull this off, I'll have more track elevated on hills and bridges, with the original track going into tunnels and under trestles. Here are few shots showing how we set up the original layout.
