Will paint stick to ...
...an old plastic Life-Like caboose?
I have an old UP caboose that will probably never be seen on the layout again without some major work, so I figured i'd use it as practice.
I'd like to repaint it with Burlington Northern colors and if it looks reasonable, body mount the couplers, put on some metal wheels and add some weight and actually use it...
So, bottom line, will anything stick to this plastic? I'm hoping I can use a thin primer and then get some BN Green, yellow and white. A few decals and see what I get..
just another day in South Africa :-)
Hey there all,
As with so many, getting back into the hobby again, was doing great in ho, but things changed and lo and behold........ no more wife, no more rail road, no more large room..... but hey life goes on.

I know this is not news worthy, but I just wanted to share.
Finescale - how important?
Hi. This is my first post here. I'm Australian and enjoying your mag and forum very much though adaptation to our situation is needed.
Which Scale?
I'm a fifty plus guy who wants to have his first layout since I was a kid who had an oval on a ping pong table. I like the idea of N scale since I don't have much room and would like continuous running. How ever I am not very coordinated and have to have cheaters to see anything. I have no equipment yet. How do I decide between N or HO?
Thank You

Long time lurker, first time poster here
I been in the hobby since I was about 10 years old (1972) with a 4x8 HO layout. Been around the block a bit building and tearing down layouts ever since. I currently am about 80-85% competed on a N scale unitrack layout . Around the walls L shape 20'x17' in the corner of my garage. Two mainlines for railfanning. No Ops, just scenery. I am going to try and post a pic or two up on weekly photo fun so check it out. Thanks and I'll be chiming in.
Coupler Conversion?
Hi,
My son and I have collected dozens old life-like freight cars and they all have the old style plasic couplers that are not compatible with anything out today. I have looked at converting them to knucle-type couplers, but the pivot point/hole on the old couplers is tiny compared to the couplers on our new rolling stock...
Is there a way, short of cuting off the old coupler box (most are truck mounted) and attaching a new body mounted coupler box?
Buying used equipment...where do you?
So, after watching and bidding on several lots on ebay, I have finally come to the conclusion that people there dont really seem to understand the concept of buying cheap. Most often, the price gets raised above retail by the shipping costs, making it no longer a deal.
So my question is, where do you go other than ebay to buy used equipment ata good price?
I am currently in the market for used code 100 N/S track since that is what all the pieces that I do currently have are.
Thanks
