Hi there

I´m a brand new member and want to introduce myself first

HOn3 newbie

Hello all.
I haven't set up a train in the last 40 plus years, but I've never lost my fascination with them.
I'm disabled now and need a hobby (Can you guess what I chose?).
Looking into things I see a LOT has changed since my old Lionel figure 8 set.
I have been reading thru a lot of sites and learning what I can, but obviously there is no substitute for hands-on, face-to-face, skill building.
With that said, I (THINK) I want to go with HOn3.

Just now decided to try this

Dont really have a clue what I want to end up with but I know I want a static display first. Who has the best model diesel locomotives in NP BN and BNSF. Im also interested in "bronzed"  versions of these also.  Im  retired BN/BNSF.

Great Info for Beginners.

For many beginners there are hundreds of questions.  Many we discuss here.  I recently received this link and I thought our beginners would be interest in this 8 page document.

From what I'm told is that this document is a handout for a clinic called, "Track Work, Doing it Right."

I found the rest of the clinics at this link.

A Question of Scale

I know that HOn30 and HOn3 are two different scales and that they both run on 9mm track (Nscale).  My question is ... what is the difference between the two scales?  Is one bigger than the other?

Thanks for any info.

Best Beginner Book?

I am new to this place. It looks full of great threads.

Pool table cover, great idea or crap?

Happy New year all

Thanks everyone for the replies to my initial post and helping me to get started.  I added a crossover as Graeme suggested.    Ken - an extra thanks to you because i never considered the space needed around the layout and I would have had a unpleasant surprise.    Atanisoft - there are four similar terminals along the Harlem river, the one you noted has the most complicated track work.   Also i liked the classic car line.

future railroader has operation question

Hello

First i have to say this is a great site, especially the magazine.  The magazine really takes advantage of electronic media.  How else could you have a magazine with 20 page articles and 10 pages of pictures. Well done.

Good material to fill, drill and tap?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a good material to fill in the pivot hole in a Kadee coupler so I can drill/tap it and screw it securely into a Kato superliner coupler arm in place of the coupler they provide..

Suggestions?

Thanks.

-Stephen
