NCE PowerPro 5amp procab problem - trains wont run

Hi all

Have a Powerpro 5amp system running two procab controllers.  Everything worked fine for months then the other day the trains - all of them stopped running. They play sound and their lights work but as soon as I ask for movement there is a small start up and then the train dies - sound goes and lights go off. Problem with different locos on different parts of the track and with both procab controllers.  Changed the battery - seemed to work to for a day and now back to problem -- anyone got any ideas please - HELP

Highland Railroad operations overview

Check out my latest video where we follow along with a typical operating session on the Highland. To keep the video short, I did not get into spotting every car; this is just an overview of each job during a session and it’s reason for being. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching!

JMRI Help - Local Switcher to Interchange Traffic

I'm looking for some help from the forum to set-up JMRI operations for my layout.

My layout physically consists of one large industry with multiple spurs operated by a local switcher from the industry and an 'interchange' with a Class I railroad that is actually my staging yard.

I want JMRI to develop a switch list for my industry. I want cars to move from the Interchange to the spurs, back to the interchange and have their loads switched.

What is the best way to do this virtually in JMRI:

Finally Checking out JMRI-Operation Pro

My small switching layout is running like a top, driven by car cards and waybills.  I've been reading the docs on JMRI OpsPro for quite some time, trying to determine if I would like it and make the switch.

OpsPro is complex, with lots of configuration options and I know this would be a "learn by doing, the doing again" experience for me.  I operate my layout almost every day and was reluctant to disrupt my status quo.

Trackage Rights Clinic

Today I made a presentation about "Trackage Rights" on the OpSig Virtual Meetup.  That presentation has been posted on YouTube and on the OpSig Website.  If you want to watch it, here's a link:

Where were freight schedules published?

I've been going through old timetables, which I find fascinating. But they only list the passenger trains. Where would scheduled freight service be published? I would have thought in the employee timetable, but that doesn't appear to be the case for the two that I have.

Operations for this district?

For context, I am not an operator type, so I barely know anything about how switching is done.

I was grazing the Sanborn maps for my area when I noticed what I think is a pretty significant bottleneck - but since as noted I have no idea of what is really involved in these switching jobs, I thought I'd ask.

railroad wax seal

I don't collect much railroadania, but I know there is a special love for station agent stamps which, if I correctly understand, were for sealing the company receipts and were shipped to the home office.

Seeing that it is possible to get a wax stamp made, I am wondering if anyone has ever found a use for such a thing?

I just think wax stamps are neat.

JMRI Operations: Love it.

First, a little background.  This is my first Thread.  I spent a good 15 years in the hobby and several layouts back in the late 80s up to the 2000s.  Coming back to the hobby after a 20 year stint in RC airplanes.  Saw some Youtube videos of steam era layouts with sound and the bug bit me back hard.  Restarted back about a year ago.
