Car Card Boxes

I'm trying to get a better understanding on the implementation of the Micro Mark system or car cards. Making the waybills is sort of confusing to me but my question is about the boxes.

Class Yard Clinic

I recently completed the trackage Birdsboro Yard, so I wanted to test it to make sure that I could switch trains in in it.  I created a video explaining how I classify cars at Birdsboro Yard.  Hopefully it has some info that might be helpful to others.

Locomotive and Rollingstock Inventory/repairstatus/operations and JMRI

Hi all,

Below I've got a long meandering description of the history of this and where I want to go, but for those that like it short and sweet, my core question is this:

Is JMRI's OperationsPro and DecoderPro sufficient to use both for operations (switchlists/other) while also working as a Rollingstock inventory system? Specifically a system that we can track maintenance issues, repair status, etc?

Bachman baldwin RF shark drive problems

I have a Bachman Rf Shark DCC that the socket for the dogbone seems to be loose. I can slide it on and off the shaft of the gear box. Any ideas for a fix or new parts? thanks John

New! The Motorman Automatic Reversing Train Shuttle Controller

New! From Iowa Scaled Engineering, the Motorman is an automatic reversing train shuttle controller for both DC and DCC locomotives. Using TrainSpotter infrared proximity detectors at each end, the Motorman will continuously drive the train back and forth, automatically stopping and reversing at the end of track. With control of the speed, locomotive address, delay time, and many other settings, a fully customized experience can be created.

It finally happened (live load train wreck)

For at least 10 years I've been hauling HO sized loads of coal in circles in my garage.  I use live loads because the handling equipment is fun to model.  Until today I've never had a wreck that spilled any.  I'm blaming my concrete colored dog and her fear of fireworks though.

DCC Turnout Numbering for JMRI

My layout is based on the Georgetown Branch of the B&O and I would like your input on a configuration issue I have run into.

Sidings on the branch were numbered mostly in groups based on the area/town the sidings were located in.  For example:  in Bethesda sidings were numbered 203A, 203B, 203C, etc.   At River Road, the sidings were numbered 204A, 204B, 204C, etc.  Going forward I want to keep the prototype siding numbers on whatever paperwork I end up using, car cards, or switch list.

Industry Switching Questions,...Cement Silo

Like many folks I am including a Walther's Medusa Cement structure on my layout. Originally it was just going to sit over in one of the back corners of the layout behind the brick factory. It was going to be serviced by a single siding track branching off the outer of two mainline tracks that circle the perimeter of the room. I had found a way to connect the other end of that cement siding back into another track that is also connected to that same mainline track, ...albeit in a more indirect manner.

Uncoupler

I thought I would share this idea that I found in a 1998 MR magazine. It's a pencil drilled out and I glued a peice of brass rod in the end. You just reach in and grap the trip pin to uncouple.
It works top down as well but not as good. Works pretty good as well I use it for coupling too.
