Bachmann's On30 Mogul Translating to 55n3

I found a Mogul that mechanically matches the Bachmann On30 Mogul if it were
used as a locomotive in 55n3. The On30 mogul scaled down to a "modern" Baldwin
narrow gauge mogul in 55n3 but the Baldwins didn't have 44" drivers. Brooks
built the Colorado and Northwestern a mogul with the same mechanical dimensions
with 44" drivers.

Newb question - Old Atlas and Athearn locos detailing advice

Hello everyone,

Straight to the point...

I have 3 old Atlas locos (GP38-2, GP40-2) and an Athearn blue box (GP35) that I would like to upgrade the details on.  I'm mainly looking to upgrade the trucks (especially on the Athearn) and I was wondering if it was possible to do so.  The Athearn truck frame is rivetted to the truck and the Atlas frames are in 1 piece. I'd also like to change the fans. Would the fans from newer Atlas locos (GP38-2, GP40-2) be a direct fit (after removing the old ones that is)?

A friend of mine sent these photos to me. Locomotives fresh out of the paint shop. Thought you might enjoy!

Need help identifying rolling stock

I have many older box cars, tank cars, etc that are set up with the old horn and hook style couplers. For sentimental reasons, I really want to keep these cars, but want to upgrade the couplers to knuckle style. Not really interested in Kaydee version, just knuckles. Problem is, I have real idea what manufacturer made some of the cars as some I have had since I was a kid in the 1960s and some I have recently bought at yardsales, etc.

NJI RS-1 O scale

Hi Group.

I have an old O scale NJI RS-1 that needs repair.  One of the tower sprockets has a crack in it and the chain bounces and catches at slow speed.  Does anyone perhaps have a spare gear, tower, or any ideas on what to do.  I have contacted NWSL and they are getting back to me and PD Hobbies is sending drawings with dimensions of their drives.  I have some pictures but for the life of me cannot get how to paste them here!!

Thanks

Peter

Am I the only one having problems with plastic handrails?

I have a small fleet of Athearn, Proto 2000 and Atlas locomotives.  I work away from home and have a small work bench set up in my apartment.  I am using the time to install DCC decoders in my locomotives.  I have damaged a lot of my plastic hand rails (in transit and prying the shells off to install decoders) and now need to find suitable replacements.  Also some of the colored plastics are too bright and need to be toned down.  I have picked up some Smokey Valley and Athearn metal and replacement plastic hand rail sets on Ebay.

Added Tsunami sound to my brass Yellowstone

I've owned this older Akane DM&IR Yellowstone since 1986, 1st time i saw it i thought someone had painted it with flat black house paint using a 4"brush,never saw anything so sad in all my life and just new the poor thing needed me!

Its always been a good running machine  and after stripping and repainting a real diamond had emerged.

55n3 K-27, could be built for less than $200, YIKES

Some one asked me a while back about "Modern" power in 55n3 here is my findings on the D&RGW K-27 in Scale55:

The Bachmann On30 2-8-0 matches the K-27 plans in the June 1973 Model Railroader.

It has been done in Large Scale, I never realized that the Bachmann 2-8-0 was converted to a smaller scale K-27.
