Locos and rolling stock

Athearn/Round House Trucks

I have a number of old Round House/Athearn rolling stock that have the plastic trucks on them, any good suggestions of what to replace the trucks with.  These are 1980's vintage rolling stock.  Currently replacing the horn hook style couplers with Kadee whisker couplers.

Thanks.

Foreign Train parts?

Every now and then a friend of mine who buys and sells at area train shows will give me a repair job if something needs repair to sell. I just got a Joueff train set to repair.

Any one know a good source of parts?

Thanks MARK

HO Drilling #79 holes for Grab Irons

I have just spent the last two weeks trying to drill umpteen #79 holes for the grab irons on a Tichy USRA box car kit. Nine broken #79 drill bits later with some bit ends stuck in the hole I was drilling I am totally frustrated.

Looking at Jack Burgess's perfectly lined up grab irons on the latest (June 2015) Getting Real article on his  Yosemite Valley box car prompts me to ask what is the secret for drilling all those holes?

Walthers Mainline coal hoppers

i recently bought a large number of these cars to run with one of my Alleghenys,I have added Kadee couplers (148s) plus I added an extra 2oz of weight.

just curious as to what thoughts you fellows/gals had on these cars. Anything else that could be done to enhance the running quality. Bought them in the six packs and at $53 a set with metal wheels thought it was a really good price.

Atlas Track Cleaning Car comes to the Richlawn Railroad

Yes, I know that I can hand vacuum my track on my layout; however, I'm using the excuse that I will have a tunnel that I can't reach with by hand, so.............

I purchased an Atlas track cleaning car and installed a DCC decoder in it.  This is what the chamber looked like after three trips (approximate 40 ft per trip) around the layout.  I'll also use the polishing disks every so often to clean the crud off the rails.

Roundhouse Parts

I have some 50' box car shells, that has no underframe and wondering if anyone knows where I might find those type of parts?  These are either Athearn or Roundhouse shells.  They were Providence & Worcester Shells and because I love that shortline I had to have them.

Bachmann TP+W Railamerica GP38-2

Has anyone bought this loco and what do you think of the colors.  Is the middle stripe gray instead of silver like one photo I have seen ??

Bachmann 4-8-4 SP Daylight issue

I have been trying to locate a HO scale MTH 4-8-4 in the daylight colors but have had little luck. So I purchased a Bachmann unit to pull the MTH 8 car passenger set. It arrived today and besides the plastic look of the gloss black paint it will hold me over untill I find a MTH loco.

O scale - Updating some Atlas/Roco cars

Hello all,

I've some old rolling stock from Roco (1970's production for Atlas) at home and I would like to modify them to obtain updated cars for my little project of US layout.

They are good bases. I've compared an actual Atlas boxcar with a 70's one: the body is exactly the same: I was surprised!
