grain haulers

What kind of car was used to haul grain in the late 50s and early 60s?

Quantum Sound

I run Athearn locomotives on my layout with the factory installed Tsunami sound decoders. Currently looking at an Atlas MP15DC with a factory installed Quantum sound decoder.

I don't have any experience with Quantum decoders and looking for feedback on the sound quality and correct sound match to the prototype.

"Auto Crate Load" by Funaro and Camerlengo

Gents,
I recently won on eBay an F&C kit of a Pennsy flatcar with 2 big crates as the load, with decals to mark them as Plymouth, Dodge, or Chrysler. I've done a lot of searching and really can't come up with any prototype info . The only pic I have is just the F&C box art which  shows the crates simply sitting on the flatcar.

Sound decoder for Walthers gas-electric

I'm looking for a sound decoder for a Walthers gas-electric, sometimes referred to as a "Doodlebug." Tsunami  has a sound file for the RGS "Galloping Goose", however that vehicle is powered directly by the gas engine whereas the doodlebug gas engine drove a generator that powered traction motors on each truck.

Atlas RS1 headlight issue

Hello everyone.  Does anyone know how to change the headlight configuration on an Atlas RS1?  My RS3's have both headlights on all the time with one light going to bright when moving either in forward or reverse while the other end stays dim.  My Atlas RS1 has one headlight on and it goes to bright when moving but the other end goes off and comes on when changing direction (the other end then goes off).  I want both ends on all the time with one light going to bright and the other staying dim when moving in forward or reverse.

HO Scale U-1 Inspection decals

Does anyone make them?   I see I can buy Herald King sets on eBay but I am a bit leery about buying them, not knowing how old they are and how they were stored.  I don't want to spend $5 + shipping for a sheet of itsy-bitsy decal parts when I put them in water.

MOW weedkiller wagons - looking for information

After scratching some buildings and doing some rolling stock kits, I've decided to set myself the challenge of building some kind of MOW stock, starting with a rtr item as a base and working from there.

Originally I had the idea of doing a jordan spreader or russel plow, but these are beyond me at present because of the complex hydraulics on the jordan and the particular curves on the russell. They can wait a few months or years until I can do them justice.

Bachmann Depressed Center Flat Car

I am looking for opinions on the realism of the Bachmann depressed center flatcar. I took the missle or whatever silly and unrealistic load off of one of them, removed the 3 axle trucks for some standard modern RB trucks and body mounted couplers. It looked believable when I was done.

Having found another one of these cars in a box of junk, I started doing the same mods. That is when I realized that car is rather NARROW... Yeah, it is, I think.

Does anyone know if this is realistic or is the reason have something to do with trainset curves or some other issue?
