Locos and rolling stock

I need IC Paducah sand domes....Does anyone offer a service to convert the drawings for 3d printing?

I need several squared off Paducah sand domes for my IC steam locomotives.  I purchased copies of the original drawings from the IC Historical Society.  Is there a company that can take those drawings and put them into the right format for 3d printing?

I've thought about making molds from the domes on my brass locos and casting what I need in resin, but I think 3d printing might be the better option.

AHM B&O 0-4-0 upgrade

I have an AHM B&O 0-4-0 with tender which was a gift from a dear friend who passed away some years ago(hence, sentimental value).  The original open frame moter and gears still operate, however, the motor is noisy, and the gears- worm and driver are very coarse which limits low speed operation.  I've been intersested in trying to convert the engine to DCC and sound.  I know that NWSL made a re-gearing kit for this loco, but

can anyone reccommend a can motor and regear for this loco?  Drivers are 50" dia.

Reading RR drip strips

Any ideas for Reading style drip strips on "N" gauge diesel?  Any way to add them without messing up the paint?

CN SW1200RS grab irons

In digging out my first locomotive kitbash from 30 Years ago - An Athearn Bluebox SW1500 converted to CN SW1200RS using the now defunct Juneco conversion kit, I see that i'm missing front and back irons on the right side of the locomotive. Anyone know where I can purchase such grab irons? I may have to just bend some wire but it may be a complicated going that route. Here's a photo:

Thanks, Brad.

Running with the big dogs, tackling an undecorated locomotive Project

Won first prize at a local Model Railroad show last week for my modified, (MU and air hoses), and weathered Missouri Pacific GP35.

This has motivated me to "consider" tackling a tougher project, taking an undecorated Atlas ALCO C420 and turning it into a "Arkansas & Missouri" C420.  (Early 90s version without ditch lights)

S Scale SHS 2-8-0

I have an S Scale S helper 2-8-0 with the gear not engaging the drive wheels. I am in the process of disassembly which is not an easy task. I assume the drive gear is broken or cracked. Has anyone done this project? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Issue with New Loco

Just got a loco dropped off. Ordered online from the USA. My very first sound unit. So was pretty happy to unbox it and hear. But Issue with it.

On the photo below. The front truck is angled up. Is this fixable?. Hopefully it is. Does anyone have any suggestions. Since I have never tinkered under the hood of my locos before. I really hope I don't have to send it back to the States. Or would it be better to inform, said hobby shop, that  I bought it from.

Weight placement

I read with great interest the thread on weighting/over-weighting rolling stock   It has raise 2 questions in my mind.  Firstly, where do you place the added weight e.g. over the trucks; in the centre; evenly distributed?

The second question is for the over-weighting group.  Do you use a percentage increase of the NMRA standard or have you established your own standard?

Thanks for sharing...Ken

Grain Loads and Boxcars

Hi everyone,

I was curious as to how you simulate grain loads, namely corn or wheat in HO scale? I am seeking to detail boxcars for grain loading and would like to show loads in cars with operable doors. I am also looking at how to create grain doors in both paper and board forms, prototype and model photos would be greatly appreciated.

A freelanced HOn3 4-4-0 , with a working bell

"Neskowin" is the end result of a long 5 year quest to add a 4-4-0 to my roster of my Pacific City & Northern Ry. My thanks go out to Craig Hoefer who made up the custom decals for her and to Laurie McLean MMR who shared with me how to add a working bell to such a small loco!
