Repair and clean-up Model Power HO 0-4-0 Fat Boy
I've got a Model Power HO scale 0-4-0 Fat Boy with tender all in pretty good shape. The motor runs well; worm gear is in good. The light works. Cosmetically looks great. Problem is the idler gear/drive gear is stripped and there's caked-on burnt plastic and congealed grease present. I'm looking for a replacement gear as well as some tips on cleanup. The gear is located on the drive wheel shaft and doesn't appear that it can be removed. If that's the case I'll need the gear and wheel assembly. Any ideas/tips?
70 ton hopper decals
Hello,
I've recently acquired a lot of 20 70ton offset quad hoppers that I want to strip and repaint. Does anyone have a good source of decals for these specific type of hopper?
railroad-owned TOFC flat cars of the 1950s
In the mid-1950s, many railroads wanted to implement Plan 2 TOFC, but were cautious about investing funds in new rolling stock. Several adapted existing flat cars. A few were more creative, using underframes from boxcars or hoppers.

Sources for mechanical parts (O scale)
I've recently decided to start building in 2 rail O scale (selling off almost everything in other scales to make room and get some cash to start with). I don't necessarily want to do Proto 48, but once I get more experience I might move into that. That being said, I know two things about O scale:
1) There are few RTR locomotives.
2) 1:48 offers a blank canvas from which to build in.

I can hardly believe that there are very few returns on an internet search for super detailing, kitbashing or upgrading a Bachmann Centipede Tender. So, I thought I might post my project for anyone else trying to do this sort of thing.
manual uncoupling
Hello! This may be something someone may have already encountered. I have never used magnetic uncoupling ramps before. So, I bought a 2-pack. Placed them loosely on the track. Ran a Bachmann GP7 sound equipped loco over it and the loco grabbed the magnet and dragged it along. ?? I have never seen nor heard of this. What is the K.I.S.S.? If I glue the magnet down, will that slow the loco down when traveling over it? Or is there a better solution? The GP7 has the speaker in the fuel tank, right above the rails. Airbrush Painting
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my bottom siphon air brush. The air flow is not the issue, the paint is not being pulled form the bottle. I tried different air pressures with limited success. There was plenty of paint in the bottle, the paint was Polly scale. I believe I thinned the paint properly, maybe it wasn’t thin enough. I also checked the pickup tube from the bottle and the other passages are ok as best as I can tell.
Flat-car load question (delivering heavy construction vehicles on-site)

Merry Christmas to everyone and many wishes for a happy and healthy upcoming new year.
Quick question. On my layout (and the actual prototype) I got a team track, and near the team track (a few blocks away tops), a large construction site (the building site of the I-210 freeway north Pasadena in the late 60s). Would it make sense for some heavy machinery/materials for the construction of the highway, to be brought in on flat-cars using the said team track? Or was it all done using trucks? (I got a couple of GSC 53'6" cars to use...).
MILW Spark Arrestors
Looking for info on the date when the Milwaukee Road started applying those large silver spark arrestors to their locomotives.
I am also looking for the date when they started repainting the freight F Units into the simplified orange/back paint scheme.
I suspect the answer to both questions is sometime in the early 60's, but I am trying to nail this down as I am modeling 1959...
