Adding Weight to Brass or Plastic Locomotives
Just ran across this posting on a repower/regear discussion,.....quite alarming
Don’t ever use white glue to hold lead into any sort of brass model, and preferably never use it at all in any model.
Show us your beer cars, please.
Had a few beer cars arrive at the shop today. First stop, tune the truck, and replace stock wheels with Intermountain wheels. This one already had knuckle couplers so I didn't install Kadee's.
Considering what these bring, if you can find any, ( mine are mostly Greenway and Show Me ) I can't be the only guy on here collecting them.
I think the saying is, "post 'em if you've got 'em."
Detail Associates
Does ANYONE know the status of Detail Associates?
Seems they've gone inactive for a long time. No back orders filled/etc.
My supply of critical items is running low.

Covered hoppers
Can someone tell me the real reason for the hole in the ends of some covered hoppers?
HO Scale Wreck Crane
Never had any dealings with any of the wreck cranes that are/were available in HO scale.
Do any of them actually "operate", either by electric motors or hand cranks?
I see two models that appear more often: Athearn and AHM. I understand there are other models that are quite vintage in manufacture that were/are available at times. There's also an out-of-production Roco that's motorized, but I don't think it's based on a North American prototype.
Decal source for business/passenger car sublettering
I'm contemplating making an HO scale stand-in model for a business car from an Athearn Heavyweight observation; the prototype had small (maybe 2 or 3 inches tall) lettering on some of the tanks and boxes under the frame ("BLOWER HOSE," "EGG COAL," "CAP 40 GALS," etc.). I'm trying to identify a source of decals to at least give a semblance of this lettering, if possible — but so far have come up empty.
Repower and DCC/Sound for an old HO brass boxcab
Hi,
I don't have any experience with remortoring or DCC upgrades, but I want to give it a try. I have this old brass boxcab of unknown manufacture (although KTM is stamped on motor.) I would like to repower it and have it running under DCC/Sound and perhaps keep-alive. It would be used for switching and running on small layouts. I have been researching what others have done, learning about some basics.
End of train warning - red flag
Hello everyone,
I want to add a red flag to a freight car when switching or sending a local out for a job. I've seen red flags on the end and I would like to have something like that in HO scale. Any idea on the best way to make one of them and how to get it to stay in place? Wishful thinking?
Thanks to all who reply!

Is it possible to re-motor an N Scale unit
I have an older Atlas N scale GP-9, part or stock #4330. It runs ok but newer units are a whole lot smoother.
So I am wondering if it is possible to do a re-motor and gear job on these or just replace it with a new or newer unit. If replacement of the unit with a newer one how do you know how new it is?
Any thoughts or ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks
Jack
