Atlas O Tank Car Truck Surgery
A few days ago I got my first Atlas O-scale 2-rail corn syrup tank car. It is a very well detailed and good looking car, but when I put it on track, I was very disappointed. Somehow it did not look right! Comparing it to prototype pics it was obvious that the car was sitting way too high on its trucks. Though I am not a rivet counter, it looked so bad that I had to change it.
Passenger car with three trucks?
Yup you read that right, three trucks! I call it "Frankencar" and it is definitely the oddest car in the fleet.
Athearn possible delay?
Hmm. My order for 2 sd40's and 2 sd45's should have shipped by now. Anyone heard anything if Athearn is running late on these units? Any info out there?
Thanks.
Advice Needed on Stripping Paint
I have 2 diecast metal engines I want to strip and paint. What is the better approach, alcohol or a soda blaster? My concern is the alcohol reacting with the zinc and causing damage to the loco body.
Nevada Northern Railway visit
I was thinking of taking a trip up to the Nevada Northern Railway to ride the steam train.
I was wondering if anyone has been there and your thoughts on where to stay and what to see.
And of course ideas for modeling the area.

Better looking headlights for LED-equipped locomotives
I discovered a way to improve the look of headlights on my steam locomotives. It's easy, and pretty cheap.
Sunday Afternoon Weathering!
Been working on some rollingstock this afternoon and thought I'd share!
DCC in Bowser/IHP Light Rail Vehicle (Bowser Streetcar Drive)
I am finally getting around to working on my Imperial Hobby Products (IHP) light rail vehicle, a Calgary-style SD-160 that uses the Bowser drive from their streetcars. I am almost done working on the shell, so I thought I would get the drive ready to run on the layout. I am planning to operate this on a new section of the layout that will have the light rail running during the day and the local will switch the industries at night. So I am powering it using the same track as the rest of my layout (I will have dummy catenary wires).
Walthers SP SD9
Hi All,
I hope I am not disappointed, but have just received after a long backorder a Walthers SP SD9, in Black Widow.
All the Black Widow locos I have , the lettering and the ends of the handrails are in white, this loco has silver lettering and silver handrail ends. Before I blow my top at Walthers after the Athearn GP9 debacle is this correct.
If not this time I wan't my money back.
