Yard Scenery May NOT Be Working Out...

I've started scenicking Casper yard.

It may not be working out very well...

After getting all the track laid in the classification area, I painted the track. That seemed to go ok for the most part:

So now it's time to work on the spaces between the tracks.

Who remembers this kit? I think it was one of Walther's first Cornerstone kits.

Well, I picked one up for $5.00. I wanted the trestle and the fence and thought well the building can be used for something...

Roundhouse Products Old Timers Buildings

Gang,

I stumbled on a baggie of these wall units which appear to be the ancestor of the DPM wall kits. I have some blank walls, a few 2 tenant store fronts, and other assorted pieces. a Google search indicates that these are either VERY old kits and kinda rare these days, or not very popular to begin with.

Cyclone Vents

Turns out there are a lot of varieties of cyclone vents. What I am after are the roof top kind that spin with the wind and pull hot air out of buildings.

2 questions: when did they 1st come into use?

and who makes the model variety suitable for HO scale?

SSltd makes one for $6.99, anybody else make some?

thanks, Jack

Hiding glue

A couple of spots of glue (look shiny) somehow showed on the surface of a coaling tower I have made.  Since the coaling tower is covered with a texture printed on paper I cannot paint over the glue spots.  Any ideas on how to hide these spots?

Who makes a good 70s-2000s short propane car

I have a Walters propane kit and office. I need to get one or two propane cars to service it but not really a 60 footer HO scale was wondering what types there were and what else in the way of trucks would help finish the scene.

Need recommendation for static grass applicator purchase

I need to do some static grass for the first time in my layout construction.  I searched the subject on Amazon and up pops a bunch of very expensive units.  Anybody know a reasonably priced applicator that does a good job?

I know there have been some DIY articles and postings, but I want to purchase something so I don't get distracted from building the layout.

Thanks for your help.

Bush, Shrub, and Undergrowth Discussion and Techniques

Hi everyone,

I am interested in modeling realistic shrubs and bushes of different varieties and sizes at a high level. I use static grass and sage supertrees and am very happy with the results. I tried lichen for shrubs and it seemed out of place with these higher quality trees and grass. I have used some supertrees for larger shrubs but wanted variety.

What techniques do you use?

Scratch built N Scale interlocking tower

Just like my obsession with the freight station that started me down the path of modeling the Pacific Electric in N Scale, the Pacific Electric interlocking towers got stuck in my mind.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a kit in N Scale that matches the prototype.

Fortunately, there are plans for a basic interlocking tower, just move some windows.
