Winter Skies

I have started a new layout and am interested in a winter setting, cold and gloomy.  If anyone has done this what is a good paint color for grey winter sky.

Frank Jones Brewing Company plans needed

I have redesigned my Portsmouth, NH area for which I will soon begin to lay track.  A major focus of the redesign will be the Frank Jones Brewing Company.  I have started research online, but photos are not plentiful and anything showing actual building footprints so far has been elusive.

Keeping in mind this is N scale, I am planning a pretty large area.  I have roughly 32"x20" or the equivalent of somewhat more than 420'x260' for the complex inclusive of track.

Derelict Trackage and the Infamous Mud Pit

Recently on WPF I was asked how I made the mud pit on my derelict track, so I'll use this thread to show what I did.

Looking for HO Storage Shed

https://www.leonardusa.com/barns-and-barn-style-sheds#MiniBarn

Has anyone seen one of these style of sheds in HO scale? I found one but it was square and I was looking for longer than wider. Thought for sure it would be an easier laser project. Thanks.

question about tunnels

ok so i have an n scale layout that uses the 28 piece bridge pier set. what i want to do is make a tunnel  preff out of elmers foam board since i can get it cheap.not sure if i can make a curved tunnel so a straight tunnel would be ok.

my question i guess is where do i start? i wanna do a tunnel to hide some of the track and to give the layout some oomph some wow, im feeling kinda lost never done anything like this before the track is on a 2x4 sheet of MDF

need some guidance

W&N - Building Temporary Bridges

When I first built the W&N I cut out the streams and rivers and then just bridged over them with flex track.  Most bodies of water were fairly narrow, less than 9 inches so it really wasn't a problem and let me get operating before spending the time to build a full bridge.

Getting some perspective on my backdrop

I'm about to start the backdrop for the second part of my layout, and there are two areas where I'd like to use perspective to get certain effects.  For this part of the layout, I want it to look like it's in a narrow-ish valley, with the mountains close by.

The first section of perspective is behind where the logging camp will be going.  I want it to look as though the valley is widening slightly behind the logging camp, and continuing along in a different direction.  At the moment, it looks like this:

Color suggestion: Texaco green?

Does anyone have a suggestion on which green would work for the green trim on an older Texaco gas station? Thanks.

Is it possible to cut a clean, consistent, shallow rectangle out of foam?

I have been building up layers of extruded foam to create the land forms for a town on my railroad. I have a flat town plateau that is pretty large, irregularly shaped, and a foot or two wide by nearly eight feet long. My original plan was to lay roads directly on the foam and place buildings and build dioramas in place. Naturally, now that I finished that, I am now considering that it might be desirable to build dioramas on gatorfoam away from the layout and then put them in place. However, I don't want an extra 1/2" of height (thickness of the gatorfoam I would use).
