Scenery and structures

A new increased appreciation for the N scale folks!

I built an N-scale structure for my HO layout to place near the top of my mountain to help with forced perspective.  I now realize that I'm spoiled by the "huge" size (in comparison to N-scale) of structures that I've been building in HO!  My hat is off to N-scale (and smaller scale) modelers!

Here's the cabin just sitting in place on my landform before I start doing the landscaping.

Static Grass Neg ION Generator from Electronics Goldmine

Hey folks,

I found what looks to be good reasonably priced high output generator for making home grown static grass applicators.  I got it for $22 including shipping.

built and weathered my first structure

started small with the "ashford tower" . i used the krylon stone paint for the walls... loved the result. then used dr. bens grimey black wash on the roof. after all dried i chalk dusted the exterior. came out ok i think. i used scotch tape on the inside surface of the glass to make it have a somewhat opaque appearance.

Overhang over tracks

Thinking back to 1960s-80s railroading and clearances, I'm wondering if 22' over the railhead would be too low for a roof. I've realized that one of the places I was considering a building would put the roof overhang just over the track (22' over the railhead). The roof is fairly large and the building itself is far enough away from the tracks. Track is a shortline mainline with mainly 4750-type hopper traffic.

I'm looking for a realistic answer as opposed to "you can do it on your railroad" answer. Thanks.

Formula for making "Scenic Glue"

Hey all,

back again with another video, this one is really a basics video that most of us will already be familiar with but for those of us that are new and full of questions hopefully this will answer some of your questions about scenic glue.

It’s basically a simple method of making your own cheap scenic glue using Matte Mod Podge as well as a few demonstrations of the preferred method of applying scenic glue depending on the scenario.

What type of glue to use

I recently purchased a Busch concrete model kit. Never having purchased Busch before I was surprised its a cardboard model kit. Question is what type of glue do I use to put this together. I haven't a glue !!

Better inside of windows

Here is a quick video on how you can model the inside of plastic windows.
