Scenery and structures

33 Second video of Misti Mountain tree planting progress
Why in the world would I take so long to plant trees on my Misti mountain?....because I enjoy the process. Here's a short video shot with my iPhone of the way the mountain looks today.

Negative Ion Generators from eBay
I know folks are making static applicators from generators like Oatley and others, but I see alot of negative ion generators on eBay like this one . . .

My question is with these units, the red and black leads are self explanatory but this has two white output leads. Which of these would you use to attach to the screen?

Corrugated Iron in HO scale
I recently picked up a HO scale tool for making corrugated iron in HO scale, I've had the pleasure of using it for the past week and have come up with some fantastic results.
The only thing is, you definitely need to use heavy duty foil. I can only find it online as our closest supermarket sells heavy duty foil but it's still too fine.
A Southern Appalachian Railroad
This photo was taken midsummer 2014 on a gravel road located in northwestern North Carolina, and gives the feeling of a Southern mountain railroad. Structures are G&G is a modified Railroadkits structure, flag stop is scratchbuilt, apple trees are Woodland Scenics armatures with fiber flocking and miniature art beads for apples, and lastly the static grass applied with a homemade applicator.
Backdrop colour
Hi everybody, I'm building an industrial switching layout and have been putting some taught into backdrop colours. Instead of trying to replicate sky and background buildings using photos etc, I have been thinking about using black colour. One advantage to this is that it emphasizes the structures and groundwork. I have included some photos to show how it looks. Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Drama can be a good thing in model railroad scenery
On another thread of mine http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/24265 Bing commented that the resident of my cabin might need a parachute to wash the window or stove pipe as the cabin sits precariously close to the edge of a 40 foot drop. Bing has a good point - and the location wasn't an accident (although there might be one if someone gets too close to the edge!

Slowly, s l o w l y I'm making progress!
You know, I'd be further along on my railroad if I didn't have to go and visit Michael Rose and eat all that good food! (grin). Well, I can't really blame him - I'm just SLOW and spend a great deal of time detailing as I go along. So I am getting close to getting the landform completed for the cabin and in the picture below I've detailed the rocks and added a bunch of greenery. I'm hoping that I can finish this (just this scene!) before the end of the year.

Farm scenes
I hate making trees. That's either either funny or understandable given that my layout will probably require about 10,000 of the HO scale boogers by the time it's complete. Probably I should have modeled eastern instead of western Oregon - I'd need about 100 trees for an eastern Oregon layout.
Gap near a rock shed
I built a rock shed (Timberline) for my HO mid-80's Canadian Pacific layout, then decided to move it. I have repositioned it but now have an un-prototypical gap between the tunnel portal and the shed.
Looking for ideas as to how to either bridge the gap or explain it away!! - Phil
(p,s, Trees still in the works!)
