Weathering a green box car
I need advice as how to fade the bright green paint of this Del Monte car. I have tried several washed to no avail. My first was 1 part white acrylic to 10 parts water. It just made the car look like it had a film on it, I washed it off and need help.
Thanks

Scratch building a depot advice...
I am getting ready to start my first scratch built project. I am going to make a compressed version of the Southern Pacific depot in Bakersfield California. I have already gone and taken a ton of pictures. I tried to find the plans for the depot, but to no avail. so I will just design it to close enough dimensions.
I am going to build it out of styrene. I have used this and wood before, so I am good with it. But what size thick ness of styrene should I use? really that is my only question.
Thanks.
Freight house diorama
Haven't posted here in a very long time, haven't done any modeling in a very long time. I'm slowly getting those modeling juices flowing again. I finished up a little diorama over the past weekend using the Monster Modelworks Freight House Flat kit.

Hey Rob, Is this a smiley face on the front wheel of the truck???

Zip Texturing Issues
I have Joe's videos, read the article in the September 2010 issue and read the blogs related to zip texturing. I'm using Richeson Powdered Tempera Paint from Dick Blick and Plaster of Paris for the mix. The formulas are exactly from Joe's video. The shell is painted with a 50% mixture of latex paint. But I'm having an issue with the zip texturing bonding to the shell.

Ruby Canyon scenery advice needed
Now that my benchwork is getting but back after some basement remediation work, I want to start working on scenery. I have a section that I want to have some sandstone cliffs which look like Ruby Canyon in eastern Utah near the border with Colorado. I've already put in some cardboard webbing as a base which has some vertical walls with some angled sections. I'm planning on using some plaster impregnated gause I have to cover part of it, maybe use some plaster with netting after I run out of what I have.

What to use these items for?
I have a copy paper box full of these things. They are containers for one of my diabetic supplies. I have been saving them for decades and I need to find a use for them or throw them out. I HATE waste, but if i can't find a use for them, no sense in keeping them. I was thinking they could be used for car loads for HO and/or O Scale, but as what? Same goes for structure details. What do they look like, I'm a bit stumped, so I am asking those of you with quite expansive imaginations, what comes to mind for either/both of them?
Walthers Wet Dry Bins Assembly help
Walthers WET/DRY Bin Construction Question
I have fond when the grain bin panels are assembled their circumference is greater then the top and bottom cones they are attached too.
Was anyone else had this problem, and how did you get around it?
Did you adjust widths of all panels to fit or just a couple.
Window signs
How do you do signs on the glazing of windows? I'm talking about lettering "painted" right on the clear glass in store front windows.
