Sculptor needed - Oxen and more
I am doing some 1850s-60s scenes and need some oxen (harnessed and unharnessed). My usual sources don't have any. I was talking with Grizzly Mountain Engineering (Tel # (970) 586-4650) and he said he would like to make some, but he needed a sculptor to make originals for molds. Any artists out there who can do HO, S and O scale animals, like oxen?Actually he would also like to add mules (harnessed and unharnessed), horses, elk, badgers, chickens, foxes, and other animals (squirrels?).

Paved Roads
I have some plans for my model railroad that involve paved asphalt roads so I recently started doing some experiments.
So far I'm quite happy with the results.

A car made of foil
Why?.... The answer to that question has been answered by Mike Budde.
If you've not seen the April 'What's Neat' then you should certainly check it out. The way Mike models a damaged panel on a car is nothing short of amazing!
Mike has inspired me to give it a try, the only difference is I plan to build a complete car from foil for the sole purpose of wrecking it...

N Scale Shingles??
Getting closer to starting a layout and looking at previously built structures I have on hand reminded me that there seems to be a bit of an issue in N scale. A lack of scale size shingles!!!
2 wood laser kits I have done in the last year or so have no shingles at all or any other roofing material. Sheet wood is supplied though.
The 3rd has when I took a really close look at the material appears to be HO scale brick material that was cut to fit the roof. What gives? Paint and weathering would help a lot in this case.

Tall Pine Trees
Hey all,
I've been trying for a great while to make good looking pine trees that where easy to make, I have been fascinated with the furnace filter trees for a very long time but where I live in Australia it's near impossible to get the right material.
Fortunately someone... I wish I could remember who? Suggested coconut fiber, so after a quick trip to the hardware store I managed to find a coconut fiber basket liner that was perfect. I made quite a number of test pieces before I felt happy with the results.

What else is there other than Tunnels and Bridges to block view of track?
I'm trying to come up with ideas on how to hide tracks other than bridges and tunnel portals in tight spots. I was thinking of maybe trying dense trees? Unfortunately the spot i'm working on doesn't allow much room for a small hill.
RAILROAD AVENUE MODELS HOTEL SK10 HELP PLEASE
Hii I am relatively new to model railroading and I have a big need of help from all you seasoned modelers reading MRH magazine. I recently bought (last week) a very rare but very challenging kit from brasstrains.com according to what I read. An HO scale Railroad Avenue Hotel kit SK10 from 1988. Has anyone reading this built one or know of someone who did? Have you any help, how to's, tips, photos to share with me? ANY help will be received with gratitude
Emile

Tree Roots - and trees made from roots
For 'specimen' trees and those close to the front of the layout it's a simple job to give them a nice root system, rather than having them stuck in the ground like telephone poles.
Here are a few examples I've done using air-drying hobby clay such as DAS. There are other brands too.
You can do the job before or after planting.
Realistic Figures
Like many modelers, I strive to make my layout look as realistic as my skills allow but have found incorporating scale human and animal figures into realistic scenes is extremely limited.
Came across an article a few years ago about this subject where the author advised the following to keep scenes "realistic:"
1. Unless you absolutely have to have figures on the layout, just avoid them altogether.
