Water for a Large Harbor Scene
Our Club is putting in a large oval (5' by 6' 41/2") harbor.It took a little over 40 lbs. of plaster mixed with 8 gallons of water to cover the base of the harbor with a 3/16" thick layer of plaster.This large of an area will be especially hard to cover with Envirotex Lite. After painting the base, I was thinking of using a couple layers of no buff floor wax as the base with gloss heavy gel medium for waves on top of the floor wax coats.
Has anyone tried this before, or does anyone know of a reason why this will not work?
ideas needed
Hey everyone. I need some help. Im wanting to build my dad a ho display for his Alaska trains. I was thinking of something like a winter snow display. Only problem is that I have never built a I display before so I don't know where to begin. If anyone could provide me with some ideas or tips I would be very grateful. Thnxs.
Using powders with an airbrush
I got some powders to weather my cars and locos. Just wondering if I can use them with an air brush? what would I mix them with to get them to go through the airbrush? Has anyone done this before? Would it work?
MRH - Photo Backdrop Repository...
All, I have an idea that has grown from my own searches and those that are currently going on in the backdrop images thread.
With Joe & MRH's permission I'd like to start a thread (this one) as a MRH Backdrop Image Repository. Now there may need to be some finer details hashed out, and some rule set but the basic concept is to have MRH members post images for others to use on their respective layouts as backdrop images.
Neon Signs - DIY
Has anyone experimented with the El Cable lights for making neon signs? I was thinking of using this to make the Bates Motel neon sign for my layout. Wanted to hear from the experts.

For those who grow their own Super Trees (Teloxys) Plants
When did the actual flowers start showing? I planted the seeds I received from a seed vendor, and something is growing where I planted the seeds. Right now it's just green stringy leaves that are sprouting up. No flowers buds whatsoever. When I pulled a plant out of the soil, the "trunk" of the root was white, with white stringy roots that go deep into the ground. I'm trying to determine are these teloxys plants or not.

Clapboard siding for O scale?
I've given up looking for the type of small houses I'm looking for for my planned On30 layout so I guess I'll scratchbuild.
Most of the houses in the area I'm modeling at that time used a lot of clapboard siding. What would be the best size of plastic sheet siding for O scale? I have no houses locally with real siding to measure so I'm not sure what size I'm looking for so I can order (probably Evergreen)?
Attaching lights to buildings
I recently purchased a couple of buildings.
I also bought a few lights for them as well. 
What is the easiest and safest way to attach these lights to this building. Drill hole, insert wires, glue with same glue used to put building together? I will be using Ambroid Proweld to glue the building together. I don't plan on removing the lights in the future, but will be adding some interior LED's to the building.
