Double-hung, Double-Paned Windows From Scratch - Part 2

As promised, here is the second part of my step-by-step process for building windows from scratch.

wiring BLMA signals

I am looking into wiring BLMA signals to twin coil switch machines. I am unsure if I can wire them direct to the switch machine. Most LED signals have a wire for every light which make it possible to wire to. What I need to know is is it possible to wire the signals direct to the twin coil switch machines??? Help please......

Miller engineering billboards

This might seem like an elementary question, but I am thinking of purchasing a Miller Engineering billboard sign (Mobil gas). My question is I have an Ho scale layout, but the HO scale billboard looks a little over powering in size. I saw the N scale sign on a layout in a hobby shop and it looked more protypical. Has anyone had any experience with these signs and it so what has your experience been?

Signals

Can BLMA signals be wired to a twin coil switch machine to show switch indication??

cheap acrylic washes

We all use 'em- they dry real quick...so how do you prolong their drying-time so that after you wipe the excess off they don't dry before you apply?

Am I asking the impossible?

Shredded paper for tree cover?

I was driving down the highway the other day and noticed some trees with some very large leaves. I have always thought most trees on model train layouts are lacking realism in that they rarely show leaves.

Then it hit me, as I am currently designing a On30 layout, why not take green paper and run it through a shredder?

Can you identify this industry ???

Gang,

I found this neat looking industry that could probably be modeled with Walthers Modulars but I have no idea what it does or why it exists. It is located in Peoria, Illinois on the waterfront.

Double-hung, Double-Paned Windows From Scratch - Part 1

A few people have asked for more details on how I build my windows, so I've written up a step-by-step walkthrough of how I do it.  It seems daunting, but once you've built the first couple and get more comfortable, it really goes pretty smoothly.

First, think about the basic parts that make up a double-hung, double-paned window.  Structurally, it's very simple (click for larger image):
