Photo Backdrop Options?

I'm attempting to learn more about using photo backdrops for my KC&G Ozark Subdivision. The mountain shapes and types would need to reflect the deciduous (and some pine) mountains of the Ozarks. I would prefer to have autumn/late autumn. I'm also becoming a convert to the idea of a solid overcast sky for several reasons. So far, I've checked the following commercial websites:

Their autumn selection seems to be quite limited and many of them are essentially useless (Niagra Falls?) for my purposes.

Highway Markings

The question of highway markings comes up every so often.  I came across this issue of "The History Guy" that talks about highway markings and might be handy.

cutting window openings in basswood siding

Sure it has been discussed many times but couldn't find on search.  Really getting back into scratchbuilding after ten years away.  Inspired by Jason Jensen among others.  What is the best method for cuting window and door openings in scribed basswood siding? Appreciate your suggestions.

Accurail Grade Crossing ???

Anyone ever use this grade crossing kit, made by Accurail ?

I was kinda surprised to get no instructions, finished pics, nothing except for the plastic shown. That is okay. I can work with that. The problem is that it doesn't make sense. The kit comes with a total of 6 pieces. All are the same size.

Painting Polo structures

I see another thread about painting plastic structures. ? Plasticville. I have several structures made by Polo, a European company. I had tried painting some years ago with Floquil and/or Poly S/Scale. Bad. Has anyone had any experience with Polo structures and painting them? Back then, I didn't think of a primer. So that's another question, what kind of primer and/or what kind of paint?

Outland Models and Great West Models

Two questions......

1. Anyone have an opinion on Outland Models?

2. Anyone have any Great West Models kits they would part with?

Inquiring minds want to know.....

Walthers/Kibri buildings

I have purchased a few of the snap together Cornerstone kits. I am wanting to paint them more realistic colors. Has anyone had luck separating the "glass" from the doors and windows

Rock Carving

Hey guys! I was carving rocks on my layout and have pile plaster debris which I will use as rock talus. My question is, how to paint it? Shall I glue all the debris to the surface and paint it after, or shall I paint it in some container before using? What is your experience? The rocks are already painted.

Thank you,

Jure
