Locomotive buzzing
I've just finished installing PSX circuit breakers on my layout and have noticed that my locos are now buzzing when the system is on and the locos are sitting idle. I ran a few locos for testing purposes before I installed the breakers and this problem did not exist - the locos were silent in an idle position. Has anyone experienced this?

Run HO on a G scale setting
Does anyone know if this is a bad idea?
I am planning on powering a potentially very large HO modular layout. Since I have an 8 amp booster and an 8 amp command station, I was thinking of using it but setting it on the G-scale setting to get the most out of the potential service. Using the higher setting should also reduce the heat buildup on the units.
The analog loco capability will be off and so the only locos on the layout will have decoders. Does anyone do this now or have any experience doing this? Does it work or am I asking for trouble?

one command station, one booster ... How about one transformer???
Okay, folks...
I have an 8 amp Digitrax Chief (DCS 100), and 8 amp booster (DB 100+). These came from my brother's G scale layout which he dismantled. So, I ended up with his Digitrax system... Oh yeah! Anyway, he had two huge transformers to run these units.

Power Supply Run Length Limit?
I must make a decision where to mount a Digitrax PS2012 power supply so I can route 120v to the correct location. The plan is to use two boosters each centered in the middle of their respective buss runs to keep the buss length below the maximum 50' Digitrax recommends. The single PS2012 will power both boosters. I would like to mount the power supply 20-30 wire run feet from either booster. The run from power supply to boosters goes up to the ceiling, through the joists, and drops at the booster location. This creates the run lengths shown.

Voltage drop
Imagine the letter "C" where the gap on the right is an area of unwired Fast Tracks turnouts. Not the issue.
The track is ME code 83 fabricated with Fast tracks straight and curved fixtures using PCB clad ties. Wood ties are added and spiked at installation. I have checked for incomplete gaps in the copper and verified the lack of shorts and periodically run a locomotive back and forth (using on old DC MRC)
All was fine till yesterday when I installed the last 6 feet of track on the outside mainline.
seeking advice on a simple signaling system
I am laying the track on my second level at this point. I have been thinking of installing a signal system at some point, so I might as well think about it now. I am looking for a simple system just to let me know if the route up ahead is clear. Nothing too complicated. IR detectors are a possibility. Any idea you guys have or systems that have worked for you would be great.
thanks everyone in advance.

Need help selecting a DCC system for a N scale layout
Ok guys, I'm looking for some friendly advice here. I'm new to DCC and am looking for some help/advice.
I'm electronically inclined so programing and setting up a system should not be that hard for me. But I'm not sure where to start. I understand the basics from some reading I've done.
A bit of a decoder puzzle
I am a bit puzzled about which decoder one of my engines should take.
Its a Kato EMD SD45 (CP 5494)
According to TCS and Litchfield Station this should take the K1D4 decoder but when I open the shell I have a split board configuration and the engine is clearly not "drop in" ready. It looks like a CN-GP would be more appropriate.
Did Kato release a non-DCC version of the SD-45 way back when. If so, has anyone converted it to DCC?
Thanks

N scale Steam: ESU LokSound Select Micro experience?
Hi to all,
recently I've noted that this sound decoder is listed on several shops
( http://www.litchfieldstation.com/xcart/product.php?productid=999003485&c... for example )

MRC Sounder Decoders #1908 & #1909?
DCC modelers,
MRC has introduced new sounder decoders. The steam is #1908, and the diesel is #1909.
Has any body installed and ran either of these for any length of time? If so what were the negative and positive results?
My only experience with MRC decoders was with a friends set of Genesis engines. The experience was not all positive. We shipped one back for a defective decoder. I hope the newer units will have a better track record than the older decoders.
