Track and electrical/DCC

My first Athearn blue box DCC harness & chip install

Good Morning Everyone:
What a difference 24 hours makes! Last night I "successfully" installed my first harness and chip into an Atheran BB. I bench tested it and all of the functions worked fine. I did notice though that one of the gears was a bit noisy so this morning i disassembled and lubricated and made sure everything was alligned propertly.

Electrical Question - LED strip lights and power supplies

I have a question related to LED lighting strips and power supplies. I’m curious how many light strips a given 12Vdc power supply can support.

LED Light strip rated at 12VDC/24W/2A

Power supply rated at 12VDC/48W/4A

How many of the LED strips above will the power supply support?

Do I simply add watts/amp until I meet the capacity of the power supply?

Will I need a second power supply if I have 3 of the specified LED light strips?

TIA - Mark

Bi colored LED

Quick question about wiring a bi-colored LED
These LED's are two conductor and will b e wired in pairs so there is one always showin one color and the other, the other color. When the current is switch the color reverses....... Obviously;-)
Here is the question, do I need a resistor on both power leeds or just one?

What is best way to cut and add ties to Fast Tracks Turnouts?

I am looking for ideas on how to cut and install ties to Fast Track's made turnouts.  Fast Tracks does not make quick sticks for O Scale turnouts, so we have to come up with ideas on how to cut the tie lengths properly and CONSISTENTLY!  The same goes for making sure proper tie spacing.

Some ideas I have, which I am not sure will work, and would involve quite a bit of time so I am bringing them up first, because there may be some better ideas.  The latter task first.  Tie spacing.

Interlocking Tortoise Switch Machines

I have a location where the diverging move of one turnout (A) crosses the straight move of another (B)  and will be using Tortoises to control them.

When A is set to diverge I would like B to automatically move to diverge also.  When A is set for straight, I would like to retain full control of B.

I had two thoughts.  Either use the contacts of Tortoise A to interlock Tortoise B or use A's control switch to interlock B's control switch.

Any ideas, brilliant or otherwise to accomplish this?

A loaded question - Which 'HO' Track to use?

I haven't bought track, or had track in nearly 30 years.  I'm (slowly) working on a layout in modules that will closely resemble the area where I grew up in Indiana, and although I really like scale detail, I'm not interested in working everything to Proto:XX standards either.  I know some track may be considered by some as too 'toy like' and then others are at the other 'Proto' end of the spectrum, but what is considered to be the happy medium?

Bullfrog Manual Turnout Control

Hey guys,

Has anybody tried Fast Track bullfrog manual turnout control?  Does it work OK? And one more thing. What do you get for USD 7.00 (part No BF-0002) - a complete manual turnout control, that means you just assemble and it is ready to use. You don't need anything else?

Thanks,

Jure, Slovenia
