How important are easements into curves?
I am building an HO around-the-wall layout in a small space. I have 5.5 feet by 12 feet available and I plan on operating a wide range of diesel era equipment, including 85' passenger cars. No long steam locos. So, I am planning on using radius 30 curves, which are the largest I can fit into the space. The layout is basically an oval, with a lift-out at one end to allow access to the center viewing area. Various sidings and a small yard are located in the inside of the oval, as well as a reversing loop (I hope).

Atlas Loco - Wiring the lights
I've got an Atlas GP40-2(W) that I've been using as my test loco for the Ring system. Up to now, I've been running it with the shell off and the loco module plugged into the existing pc board while sitting on top of the chassis. I've determined there isn't enough room to comfortably house the loco module (1st generation LM-1), but removing the existing PC board provides a perfect spot for it. What I need to do is then wire the harness directly to the components.
bullfrog turnout control
I am having trouble with my bullfrogs. I am mounting them about 2" under the road bed. (1" foam,1" top shelf of book case). I find the wire that throws the turnout is too 'springy' to throw me M.E. turnouts. Do I need a heavier wire or do I need to mount the bullfrog closer to the road bed? Thanks for your help

iPhone speaker - you might not believe this
Since I've started hearing about people using cell phone speakers in their locomotives, and since my brother-in-law has a cell phone repair business, I asked if he had any spare speakers laying around. He gave me (despite my offers to pay him) a pair of iPhone speakers and as many dead cell phones as I cared to carry home. Today I decided to see how the iPhone speaker would sound.
wiring the frog on Micro Engineering turnouts
I've been looking at how best to wire the frog on MicroEngineering code 70 turnouts/switches. They have a circular extension below the frog that you can solder the wire to, however it would be a butt joint for a wire which would not be very strong. Is drilling a hole for the wire to be soldered into the best option? Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this?

Controlling Tam Valley Singlet Using JMRI
I ha
I have a turnout powered by a Tam Valley Singlet. I have assigned an address to it and can control it using the DT400 throttle and my Digitrax DCC system.
I want to control the turnout using a computer running JMRI.
I have both a SPROG and a Locobuffer-USB.
When I interface the computer directly to the singlet using the SPROG, JMRI works fine and I can contol the turnout.
The problem occurs trying to get JMRI to talk to the singlet through the command station using the LOCO-Buffer-USB
dcc bitswitch
I was looking at DCC bitswitch and there products from their website
http://www.dccbitswitch.com/BitSwitch_Devices.htm
Why don't they mention other potential applications like movable bridges(bascule, swing, lift, elevator, turntables) and other things like loading/unloading areas, etc.?
Any thoughts.

Bachmann Pancake Motors?
Gang,
I needed some old shells for my scrapyard/rail rebuilder scene. As a bonus, the shells came with old plastic frames with the infamous Bachmann pancake motor.
Before I tear these things apart and use the gears/sideframes for use as scrapyard stuff, I am wondering if the complete and operable motor unit is unbelievably valuable? My guess is NO, but I thought there might be someone on here that might know the answer to be different?
Thanks for the help.
