Track and electrical/DCC
FastTacks Bullfrog
I'm leaning towards using the bulfrogs and need some advice. First of all they power the frog and are not sticking out the side of the track like caboose manual turnout controls. The only issue I have is my layout consists of 2' foam on framing. The bottom of the layout is foam, not sure how I would mount these. Anyone have some good pictures or instructions on how to do this?

Reversing loop schematics with dwell timer
Hello All,
I am hoping someone out there may be able and willing to help me. I am looking for a circuit diagram for a revering circuit to control an incline rail setup, I want both the run time and dwell time at both ends variable, or if posible sensors at the top and bottom to trigger the reverse cycle. My electronic skills are limited to medium.

Walthers Turntable control box calls for AC? Shouldn't DC be fine?
OK I've got situation here that makes me feel stupid for apparently throwing out or otherwise losing my old train "power pack".
Open DCC. Has anyone tried this?

It's open source command station, controller, and decoders. It looks like it works with JMRI. I just stumbled on it so can't comment past the curiosity.
Life-Like Proto 2000 GP38-2 decoder installation
Switching gears to HO scale now, I have two Proto 2000 GP 38-2s that I want to put a decoder in each of them. These are older and do not have the socket for a pin decoder. Which one out there is the best? I thought I saw one from TCS that had back EMF where using it would not require me to get new headlight bulbs, but I cannot find the decoder.
Wiring tail light bulb to detect shorts in powered blocks
I'm new to this and was wondering if someone could explain how to wire a #1156 tail light bulb to detect a short in powered blocks on a layout. Do you use one of the feeder wires from the bus wires to put the bulb in between the bus and track or is it a separate wire from the bus to a rail on the track? What ever wire is used, where do you solder it to on the bulb, the bottom and side or somewhere else? I'm assuming only one wire is used to solder it on the bulb.
Thank you.
