Track and electrical/DCC
Molex connector pins question
I know the pins are squeezed shut over the wire before inserting the pin into the connector, Should it also be soldered?

Replacing ties and losing my mind
Working on staging yard number two, which has some very long tracks. That means I have lots of ties to replace at joints. I counted 40 on the first track. I have been taking the ties that I remove, using my dremel to remove the inner spikes and thin them down a bit for the joiners. The thing is, this is very tedious and I am beginning to lose my mind. Is there a better way to do this? Does anyone make ties that are a little thinner than the Code 100 ties that I could just buy a big bag and slip into these spots?
NCE PowerCab wire question
The track wires the are screwed into the little connector on the powercab connection panel - what is the largest size wire that can be used?

A source of fine wire
I am in the process of getting ready to start planning to think about maybe converting my as yet unbuilt nay unstarted layout to DCC! I tend to procrastinate sometimes, no most of the time, actually all of the time!
For this reason I have been doing a lot of research and reading on DCC and collecting supplies that I might need. One of the things I see a need for is fine wire to wire locos. Being cheap I like to use a lot of salvaged electrical equipment and I have been looking for a source of small flexible wires with several different colours. No luck so far.

Progress on the Sunset & North Eastern R.R.
I have put together the two main boards. As mentioned, these are made of 5mm foam board and are extremely light. Each board weighs just 750 grams (1lb 12oz) but they are very well braced and have self levellers to get them straight and level on the worktop where I am going to run them.
ANEmodel decoders
Has anyone used the new ANEmodel decoders? They are very inexpensive & I would be interested in your experiences.

confused TCS keep alive
Ive recently put TCS decoders with Keep Alives into my locomotives. Normally both of my locomotives run fine with the decoders, but occassionally they will just stop and flash the lights. There is also a noticable clicking noise. It is also worth mentioning that the problem usually occurs only at slow speeds. If I give them a nudge they return to normal operation.
stuck in a bind with how to power my layout
ok so im stuck in a bind i use life-like power loc track for my layout because thats what came with the train set it was an xmas gift. any how here the problem as u can see from the picture the terminal track uses wire attached to metal clips that slide onto the terminals prongs to power said layout but the metal clips broke off and all im left with is the wires since its impossible to find power loc track is it possible for me to solder the wires onto the terminal tracks prongs so the track can be powered or am i better off trying to source out a replacement terminal track?
DCC power bus wiring questions
Background: I have started construction of a new HO gauge layout. The layout will be three levels (mushroom design) and the overall size is 28ft x 32ft. I will be using a Digitrax DCS100 command station and 3 or 4 DB150 boosters for DCC control. Each level will be it's own booster district and the main division yard will be its own booster district.
I plan to install a BDL168 for occupancy detection/status in each of the lower and upper return loop/staging and in the double helix.

Reverse Loop
I have a reverse loop in staging, and I have a Digitrax reverse auto reverse loop thingamijig. Below is the track plan in question. I think I need to gap where indicated at the first turnout in the ladder, and wire the auto reverse unit to that section. Sound like a plan?
thanks,
Randy
