Paper mill progress - finally!

After posting the raw parts of a scratchbuilt digester complex for my mill months ago, I have finally made sufficient progress for me to call it (as a wise man recently said) good enough - for now.

The raw pieces were some PVC pipe couplings, a potato chip can, vitamin bottle, some styrene sheet from a "for sale" sign, wood, and masonite.

FGWX 200000

In 1987 while visiting the US a friend of mine photographed this car passing Tower 55. I discovered the picture while scanning some of his slides. Does anyone know the history of the car and how it is used? I have never seen a picture of one before.

Video of finished tunnel portal in rock cut

For all of you that's been following the construction of the tunnel portal to remote staging located in the rock cut I've created a little video to show you how it looks from the "train view" via my MUVI micro camcorder.  You will remember that the area isn't visible to trainroom visitors as it's hidden by a foreground hill area.  I needed to scenic the area as I do enjoy making videos with the train cam and I also have a wireless train mounted camera I use during open houses.

Video of operations at Deer Hollow in the alcove addition

O.K. - try not to laugh, but if you've got around 12 minutes with nothing else to do please check out my video of my very first operation "mini-session" in my alcove area.  The actual session took about 20 minutes but I edited it down to about 12 minutes to hopefully reduce the "snore factor".  The video is kind of a "quickie" but you can get the idea.  As usual, your comments, suggestions, and remarks are appreciated.  Thanks for watching!!!

Pere Marquette locomotive needs a workout

As I look over my G scale items to run next spring, I came across my #1 gauge Pere Marquette locomotive and caboose. I have been on a quest to find rolling stock for it. I prefer passenger cars however I will take anything in 1/32 scale. So far no luck what so ever. I might just have to resort to having cars custom painted. I have no idea as to what that would cost.

I have enough curved track to set up an 8ft circle, but I don't have a transformer yet to power the track.

Success!

A new engine has entered the roster at the Euclid yard of THE GREATER NICKEL PLATE. Thanks to help from friends on this site, much sweating, swearing, soldering, testing, re-soldering, re-testing and praying. S-4 Number 12 is alive and running after installation of a new motor and a Z scale decoder.

Paco has come out with a DIY DMX circuit for controlling Room lights

Wilmington & Northern Branch: Switchlist

Mike Rose posted a switchlist generator over on the Operations Forum and I modified it for the W&N to explore additional capabilities.

Here's a link to my version.

I will continue to use car cards but this is an alternative.
