JL&T Railroad Blog - New Locomotive to the Roster...
Hi All,
Well this week I finally added a EMD SD40-2 to the JL&T roster. I have been searching high & low for these and was lucky enough for one to pop up on eBay.
As soon as it was spotted, it was purchased! There was no way I was letting it go, they are getting to be like rocking horse poop (hard to find). I have another one Kato - Conrail that is currently being weathered along with another Kato GP35 in RDG paint.

Rogers Pass 1885 - Finding the Track Plan
Modified from R.D.Turner 1987 “West of the Great Divide” Sono Nis Press, Victoria page 54.
Having made the decision to model the scene at Rogers Pass the next problem was to find more information on the number and placing of the tracks. I was in luck because a detailed survey was make on April 14, 1887 by A.L. Poudrier for the CPR and has been redrawn by R.D. Turner for his book on railroading in British Columbia.

Things I learned at the Sea Trials.
I have been making changes and fixes since my crew came over and gave the layout a good operations test. I have made some changes on paper for operations and some are being made with rail and ties and bullfrog turnout throws and Kadee uncoupling magnets.
MRH Forum Challenge...
I like the idea Bill Michaels has come up with to set some goals for building on our model railroads over the summer. Sharing our ideas, progress and hopefully final creations should be not only great fun but also very motivating for all of us.
Here is my project and what I want to do with it. Please if you have any ideas, let me know!
Down at the Crossing
I've wired up the crossing flashers at NW 100th Street and connected them to Logic Rail Technology's Grade Crossing Pro to provide detection and flasher control. Once it was active I spent the better part of an hour just shuttling cars back and forth thru the crossing just to watch the flashers activate. All the while I was grinning like a fool.

Analog Fast Clocks
To All: To all but especially to the person that wanted to know how to build an
analog fast clock. Simply remove the second hand from a large wall
clock. I post a sign next to it that states, for example, that 10 minutes
equals 1 hour. Therefor, 1 hour equals 6 hours. Two hours would be
