Pembroke: Installation Day!
This afternoon, I invited a bunch of good friends, Andrew, Scott, Ken, Julian as well as Margot and Patty over to help install the layout in the basement. I wasn't quite as ready as I'd hoped to be, but with so many helpers, we managed to get it installed all the same.
When we finished, we toasted ourselves with a little prosecco, and enjoyed a great barbeque.
Safety First on the Trenton Subdivision in N Scale

Cleveland 2014 - Thursday, Day 5 - Setup for the Train Show
This year's train show was a bit interesting, in that most years the Train Show is held in a building without any ground floor windows, and often in a separate building from the convention (Portland will be this way).
But in Cleveland the convention area faced the show hall through floor to ceiling windows - and there were even viewpoints from above into the show hall. Everyone got to see pretty much everything they wanted to.
So I'm going to show it to you - (starting with the first comment)

Flirting with the Sacramento Northern
I enjoy imagining what kind of a layout I can build whenever I take control of a space. Even when I’ve worked in office cubicles I didn’t hesitate to sketch up ideas for shelf layouts that I could fit in, even though it might have been bad for office morale to slack off of work so brazenly. But I seem to be ensconced in my current classroom for the foreseeable future and the Inglenook convinced me that a model railroad would be a legitimate and appropriate educational tool. For some kids, maybe better than just appropriate.
