WSLCo logging layout in a shadow box
I am starting a new layout. This one will be based on the West Side Lumber Company (WSLCo) that existed in central California in Tuolumne county. The WSLCo was a 3 foot railroad that ran Shay locomotives. The nice thing about Shays is that they run real slooow, this will make the layout seem larger than it is.

Operations winding down on the Estrella & Sonora Grande
Operations on the Estrella & Sonora Grande are winding down. Here, a 'cleanup train' sent up the high line is coming back from Estrella with some empty cars left there. Below, #4 awaits clearance at San Lorenzo to head up the line with a work train to begin pulling up the rail.
Happy Spring! (A trip to the MECR)
Here is a video of a video I took yesterday of Mass Central 1751 heading back from the mill in south barre. As you can see, the weather was really looking fresh and thawed, and the sun was shining, and the sky was blue! :D I think this road would make a great model railway. It is only about 20-30 miles, owns four locos, and train lengths never exceed 20 cars! Usually, less then ten, i think. Note there us an abandoned boxcar a couple yards beyond the pie of ties. I would love to check it out someday, but there is a NO TRESPASSING sign, and the area is fairly populated.
Progress on Pine Valley Station - and a forgotten memory
I have now completed the walls and the roof. Both have been airbrushed and are ready to be joined. Unfortunately, applying the shingles and painting them has caused the roof to warp fairly severely. I am going to attach some thick plastic card to the underside of the roof and I have glued some tabs to the building. Once put together, the warping should have been alleviated.
Starting the work on town of Watersmeet
I am starting to work on the town of Watersmeet and the connecting road to Ironwood (located in the window well)
This is the ramp down from Ironwood to the road leading to Watersmeet. The basic sub form is two pieces of 11/2" thick rigid foam glued together. The road surface is .060" styrene.
Richfield Rail-Runners got a new toy
Richfield Rail-Runners got a Cricut cutting machine and wow have we been busy. It has been a bit of a learning process with Auto-Cad but we have it down. I will have pictures up soon. We have done several buildings out of 4ply card stock, .30 and.40 styrene, clapboard siding and board and battin. We have cut 1/6 " bass wood too. The Vollmur brick sheet gave us a bit of fits, however we won. Cut out a nice brick building.
