Decoder Programming Education

Been having an interesting time of it setting up some new locos for the layout. The problem appeared to start when I tried to setup the long address for my new Rapido GMD-1. Worked fine at the default (de fault is always de user...) address of '03'. But when I changed it on the programming track to aything else the loco would brick. However, I could do a factory reset to the default address, this worked, and the loco was functional.

Let's get some real modelling - Pine Valley Station

Having worked out that I have about 17 things on the go at the moment, a kind soul on thisorum suggested that I allocate a whole week to each of the task. This seems a bit extreme so I have decided to dedicate one whole day to each task. Today is Model Railroading (of course!)

Analysing why I don't get on very quickly

I have been discussing with my wife quite why I don't get much done now that I am retired. My 89 year old Mother-in-law chipped in and asked what I do currently. I made a list. It was terrifying and it has become blindingly obvious why I am currently unsatisfied with regard to progress on my hobbies. Here was the list I came up with:

McCulloch Chainsaw Shop --Monster Model Works Triple J Repair

I had been working on a house for my Free-mo module and it just was not keeping me motivated to keep working on it. I had recently been enticed by an sale at Monster Model Works and as I look through their items I came across Triple J Repair. I really had no reason to buy the kit, but between what I had heard on a few podcasts and seen on the net I decided to give one of the kits a try. After getting the kit home I took a peak at it and put it with my pile of other stuff I had to build.

My old switching layout 5' x 18" HO

Thought I would share my layout. It is code 70 with under track magnate uncoulpers. The grain elevator goes where the black spot is in the upper right, you can see where the foundation for the loading shed is there. I combined the loading track and the lead for the small yard... The run-a-round has nice straight sections for coupling. As you can see it can stand alone, but expansion possible...

Balancing Model railroading with being a Teen

Since I am both a 14 year old and a railway enthusiast, I thought I would take the time to mention how I get around having an 'obsolete' interest, and live a teenage life.
