New workspace
Finally carved out a niche for my own work space. The tiny corner of my basement that I'd been using as my music room has a nice sunlit egress window that provides me light and somewhere to vent spray booth fumes, as well as nice ceiling recessed can lights for after dark. My wife decided to redo the corner of the family room that holds all her photography stuff, which made available a nicely sized piece of countertop with a backsplash. And the recent acquisition of a new bookshelf for the bedroom made two smaller bookshelves available as bases.
Using Old Motor Wire
I have two motors from now "dead" trainset quality engines. Next weekend I am going to be making some signals and was wondering if it would be ok to use the thin wire from the motor as leads from the LEDs to the main power wire. It is only going to be 6 volts but still wanted to check. If not where can I get cheap thin wire?

Napanee Viaduct Update 2
Got the castings in place, roughly positioned. Bridge piers trimmed to length, river insert cut to size and prepped. Now to build some blocking to hold the castings in place, finish the dam and set it down into the foam. Then paint the falls and add water effects -- including the saran/acrylic falling water. Then redo the approach track... still, it is what has been in my minds eye since I started this project.
Should I have entered?
So this is a track plan that I considered entering in to the TOMA contest. Can anyone guess where this location is? Clue... LA Area

The patrons would love to see the point of view on a screen

How to use an Arduino to control Tortoise switch motors
OK, here is the deal …..
I have 2 turnouts that I want to control automatically so that human error is taken out of the equation.
Basically I have a condition where the train entering one turnout will determine the position of the second turnout. The sequence of operation is as follows (see schematic for turnout location and positions)
