Progress Update
After a short visit to the VA for an eye exam and a new pair of "free" glasses, made some progress on the model railroad. Tested all tracks and fixed a few power problems including cleaning all the track.
Orange ribbon or simillar between rails?
Recently I saw a piece of orange cloth stretched between the rails by a crossing near my house. It was mounted I assume by MOW as it was going on in the area that day but what purpose did it serve? Could someone shed some light on this?
Start of the construction process
You have seen the sections in their current state, and you have seen the track plan.
Now be prepared to be amazed, thrilled and just over all entertained.. just kidding. To some it might be like watching paint dry.
There are plenty of reasons that I decided to make a layout using Free-moN sections.
Finaly a new Video, the H0 Collection 6

Making trackplan digital
Could someone take this plan and convert it in scarm (or other) with atlas snap track or simillar? some flex track is OK but my attempts at home on the floor were very unsuccessful. I have seen people quite a bit of skill in this which is why I am asking....
dimensions are: 4-1/2'x6'
The only change is cut the track that goes into the tunnel at the tunnel and make it 5'x7'
The Little Rock Line in N scale.
Greetings all. Been lurking for a few years, decided it was time to join in.
I started my layout design years ago but didn't get around to building until 2008. It's a Proto-Freelanced design based on Rock Island's section of line from Little Rock, AR south to Alexandria, LA. Subdivision 38 & 39 of their Southern Division. In my history books The Rock avoided the final shutdown and continues to operate. The current date is Spring-Summer of 1983. It was designed for Ops and as of the present is fully operational.
Vermillion Yard removed and being rebuilt
I guess it is the season for taking down layouts. I am only planning to rebuild and improve my upper level yard. This yard receives the road trains or empty ore cars, and breaks them down into smaller batch mine runs. It also receives the loaded ore cars from the mines and combines them into road trains headed to the dock on th shore of Lake Superior.
You're on Camera - Security Camera Build
Hi MRH,
I wanted to share a quick how-to for making security cameras. These are modeled after the older style cameras commonly seen.
Parts:
0.040 styrene for the base
a staple for the arm
a piece of 0.060 round rod styrene for the camera body (spare parts, plastic sprue, or tubes work too!)
a piece of paper for the camera hood
clear lens for the camera glass( I had some small lens left over from a switch stand kit)
