Chessie System Vermillion
Hi, I am modeling Chessie Systems Locomotives. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get Vermillion colored decal sheets so I can cut my own width of stripes. I prefer waterslide not stickers. I would even consider paint (not air spray) Thank you for your time.
Modeling updates for this Spring.
I created a short video to show what I have been working on this spring.
Track Work...
Time to fix a long overdue track elevation issue that has been affecting operations since the beginning...
Both tracks out of service...
Walkin' the Road Job
It may be difficult to appreciate how much walking is involved in rail operations. In fact, this may be even more so in modern operations ever since they got rid of the buggies (cabooses) and eliminated the front and rear end brakeman, and moved the conductor to the head end. Yet reverse movements still need to be protected so on road trains, this often means the conductor has to walk the length of the train multiple times.
Ghost Rail Denver and Rio Grande Low Grade Line.
D&RG was the first to transport ore from the open cut operations at Bingham from the mine to the mills. They lost their contract just after a few short years. 84 wonderful construction photos of that line.
Chippewa gets its first locomotive
I have been in modeling for some time but my road never had its own locomotives. Plenty of cars but ran UP locos. Part of this was due to not having a paint scheme I liked.
Since I grew up in Wisconsin I liked both the CNW and SOO. I decided to paint the locos in SOO off white but eliminate the bloody nose. I also decided that the original logo was a bit dated. I ran across the Delmarva Central Carload Express logo and liked it. I made a variation of the logo for the Chippewa.
Operations - Switching the entire south side of the layout
My ultimate TOMA layout (T-Trak)
After much thought and many starts & stops, I have decided to change my focus in scale and the size of my goal layout.
The biggest issue is that the place I have is not conducive to what I can come up with in HO scale.
Probably the main issue is that the room is small & any layout will have to share the space.
Ok, that probably means a smaller scale.
The assortment of supplies in N scale is more than adequate, yes not as much detail, but that is all right..
South Dakota State Railroad Museum Hill City Diorama
This is my second entry in the Spearfish Canyon Diorama build for the South Dakota Railraod Museum in Hill City South Dakota. In this second entry i have been busy placing molds with 20 Min. sheetrock mud. After about 30 min. I peel the mold off and the mud is still soft enough to take some tools a shape the cast to blend in with the mold next to it. it is a slow process but is very real looking when complete. The TV in the back ground has a photo of Bridal viel falls in Spearfish canyon. THe falls will be on this end.
