Final Layout design - N Scale
Hi again
Well I think I have what I'm looking for, gone for a much simpler design and yet still getting all the operations I want from the layout design
Here are a few pictures, I'm still not sure about the yard, comments welcome on this.
Here is Module A, the Coal Mine, I could add more but I think I will add trucks and equipment rather than more track. I may move the fuel track closer to the building so the hill can be closer and have more scenery impact with trees to match the backdrop.
Penn Lake 8: Lampson Yard & Berg Service Center (Update 10/18/2018)
Updates:
~~~~~~~
10/18/18 - Backdrop for Bridge
2/17/18 - Cross Yard Bridge
2/10/18 - Wiggins Progress + Beginnings of Brodar Millwork
8/25/17 - Wiggins Building Supply
Let's explore Lampson Yard and Berg Service Center, the main yard and locomotive maintenance center for Bourbon River Sub. I used a pinwheel ladder to maximize track length, and keep the turnouts close to the front edge. It does create a LONG ladder, but the yard is more visible staging, than actual classification yard.
A snapshot of the status in the shuting yard after the operation today
The shunting yard is half full after the operation today. No need for extra trains if the amount of goods stay at this level.. Do you run your layout using waybills and carcards? It´s great fun! Try it! It´s easy to get started.
Here´s how:
Backdrop approach for a small branch line
I’ve been working on an approach for my backdrop and was planning to practice painting techniques for clouds and terrain. At the same time I’ve been working on a children’s book with a talented local illustrator over the last several months and she graciously offered her talent to create my backdrop. Incredible!
Early Rail Boxcar
To All: The Des Moines, Iowa Falls & Northern RR existed under that name from 1899 until 1908. In 1908 the successor road was the St. Paul & Des Moines RR. Eventually this line became part of the Rock Island System. I scratchbuilt, painted and lettered this Early Rail Boxcar. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.
Another track design
Hi all
Here is another plan that I have been working on, getting the design right must be the hardest part of any track build "LOL"
This is the top level
Comments welcome
Paul.
SNE final track plan
I put my track design on the Model Railroader Track forum for comments and had lots of help sorting out what would work and what wouldn't. There were concerns that I had done the usual trick of overestimating how much track that can be got onto a board and one commenter thought that I had used #2 turnouts to make everything work. In fact I had been a little ambitious but, with a bit of reorganising,I was able to get the basic layout to fit.
The 3D Printed N-Scale Union Station Project Continues - Parts 2 & 2A
After a lot of measurements and a couple of test prints, the center section of the main station building was glued together and test fit to the lower level and then to the passenger waiting room building. This way, the waiting room structure can be taken off of the layout separately from the main station building. The video above shows what that looks like.
