Scratch build a medieval town wall

Hi! This week I´ve been scratch building a town wall in medieval style inspired by the famous Germany city wall Rothenburg ob der Taubern. This project features a stone wall made from random sized stones (yellowish colored sand stone), wooden railings and clay made tiled roof.

Platform construction on my narrow gauge Isle of Skye Railway

During the last two weeks I spend some time on my small modular narrow gauge layout. First I built the stationbuilding, which is made from two Wills kits, which I joined together. The yesterday I started with the construction of the platform. But before these could start I had to think about the turnout at the end of my station because the Caboose Industries switchthrows would interfere with the platform. So after some thinking I came to the conclusion to modifiy the switchthrow. Now I can't use the bar on top of it to change the turnout, but the polaritiyswitch still could be used.

Why I model the MEC, part 3 (end)

1 room – 2 layouts

In the last part of introducing me and my layout I’ll explain what my concept is. Because the upper level – Rockland branch of the MEC in 1954 – follows a considerably different design than the lower one – Portland Terminal Company in 1969.

Rockland branch design concept:

Plan for another Pocahontas layout

I'm starting a new layout based on the 13.8 miles between Northfork, WV and Welch, WV on the NS's Pocahontas Division.  My primary interest is mainline running/train watching, but I've included the yard at Eckman and three coal loaders in case I feel switchey.

Mount Allen and Work's Coal Co.

The time has come. This is a picture of the last portion of the layout that is bare. Every other part has, at the very least, a base coat of scenery. There's one more Dragon to slay.  The area below the mine has become a catch all for all manner of stuff and it will continue to be, albeit more organized and with a fascia/cabinet door that will allow staging and storage access. It doesn't lend itself well to scenery and the closet door would open into it anyway.

Lighting, wiring, thrills and spills

I suppose that I’m not unlike others who want to get started with benchwork, roadbed and track, as soon as possible to visualize or operate the layout without really giving thought to overhead lighting (room prep etc.). My rough-in electrical boxes were there since before putting up drywall on the ceiling and walls but things change so putting off the final installation seemed reasonable.

Chain Link Fence - Propane Dealer

Finished up the Propane Dealer and tried scratch building a chain link fence. A big shout out to Boulder Creek Railroad and his video on making chain link fences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_guMOYoCpw&t=56s
