UV cured epoxy, a little story.....

Found out something interesting today.  A while ago I wanted to try UV activated epoxy.  I’ve got some in my mouth and it seems to want to stay there so I figured it might be handy.  I ordered the cheapest thing I could find on eBay coming from China and waited for it to arrive.  When it did I tried dripping some on a part and then shining the light from the associated UV flashlight that came with the liquid epoxy.  The epoxy took its time getting a skin on and I finished it off on the back porch railing.

Planning the Citadel Complex, help and advice needed

So, I have decided to start planning out a very important part of the White Lion Railways network, being the Citadel Complex, which is the official name of the Modern Columbus Union Station, in Columbus, Ohio.  The Citadel is the Epicenter of White Lion Railways operations, being the Central station of the High Speed rail system that links Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, White Lion City, and Toledo, as well as the East/West railway line connecting Lima, Columbus, and Steubenville.

Tortoises, Switches, Electronics, coming together.

Hello all,

Getting close to getting some trains running at my mill. I am using Tortoise switch machines and have a few questions and ideas to bounce across the group before taking the next step.

Starting a series of short webcasts on Scale Model Animation for Model Railroading via New Tracks Meetups

Hi,

Wednesday, Feb 3 at 4:00 PM Pacific time (7:00 PM Eastern) New Tracks Modeling is hosting a webcast of short subjects (15 min) where I will be starting a continuing series on Scale Model Animation for Model Railroading.

Here are the details:
New Tracks Meetups

DCC & DC, Digitrax AR1 auto reverser?

I have a DCC layout with a reversing section working fine.
NCE power cab and Digitrax AR1.
If I want to hook my system to a DC power pack will it hurt the AR1 or back feed and hurt the Power cab?
If I have a test track that can be either DC or DCC and that creates a momentary short while connected to the DC power will that harm either the AR1 or the Power Cab / PCP?

If so, is there a tested circuit design to automatically isolate those components when DC power is applyed?

Thank you for any information.

Controller modification on a budget

(This is my first post and wasn't sure if this is the correct forum)

Need Some Arduino/LED Help

In my blog, on page 19, I describe a lighting project I'm working on.

As can be seen from code and description, 14 LEDs will be used, with two on each of seven pins. Assuming 18-20 mA each with a 470 ohm resistor per pair, this would exceed the 200 mA total for board. As I am anything but an electronic whiz, what would be the minimum resistor I would need to drop total amperage below that total?

Manifest Destiny Part 2

One year ago I undertook a big expansion project detailed here:  https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/38428    Now IRR management has negotiated another expansion area adjacent to the current yard. In other words, the desk and futon found a new home in another room. This frees up almost the entire 24’ wall which is currently used only by a 90 deg corner turn module and a narrow 5 track yard. So it’s expansion track planning time again!

Yard Lights

I have received the tower lights for both of the yards on my layout. They came with separate resistors that need to be soldered to each light. Does it matter which of the two wires  (assuming one is a positive lead and one a negative) the resistor is soldered to? Once done, I plan on sliding shrink tubing over the resistor to prevent damage.

New! The Motorman Automatic Reversing Train Shuttle Controller

New! From Iowa Scaled Engineering, the Motorman is an automatic reversing train shuttle controller for both DC and DCC locomotives. Using TrainSpotter infrared proximity detectors at each end, the Motorman will continuously drive the train back and forth, automatically stopping and reversing at the end of track. With control of the speed, locomotive address, delay time, and many other settings, a fully customized experience can be created.
